How will the media spin this one?

A robbery was thwarted at a Southwest Side corner store Saturday night when a patron with a concealed carry license shot and killed an armed robber, authorities said.

Citing preliminary information, police said a man walked into a store in the 2700 block of West 51st Street in the Gage Park neighborhood around 7 p.m., announced a robbery to an employee working behind the counter and displayed a handgun.

Another employee came from the back of the store and the gunman pointed his weapon at her, police said. He then made her go to the back of the store, which also serves as a currency exchange.

That's the thing, the media won't spin this any way. It probably won't even get air time. Does anyone think it's ridiculous that you have to have a "concealed carry permit" and a "valid firearms owner identification card" to carry a gun to protect yourself? Everything is so backwards nowadays....rant over. Good job to the CCW holder though, he most likely saved some lives that night.

It's pretty obvious the good guy was given a license to kill by way of his CHL.

In the meantime...

Year To Date
Shot & Killed: 378
Shot & Wounded: 2174
Total Shot: 2552
Total Homicides: 428

If the gang bangers pick up the pace a bit they should hit 3000 total shot with 2500 wounded and 500 murdered by years end. They are doing a marvelous job reinforcing the Presidents stand on non violent drug crimes. It's almost a public service for them to shoot each other.

Wow, this guy must be a Catholic saint, in possession of a TS/SCI clearance, passed a dozen polygraphs, and used a single-shot .22LR derringer.

Seriously, a CHL citizen in Chicago who was declared legal by LEO after the fact? I feel like I just saw a unicorn...

I'm sure his pistol was confiscated anyway, because Chicago.

If only the CHL were a swarthy younger girl with a CZ75....

That would've made my year

Interesting how they lump this justified shooting in with all the violence involving a gun? The title at first glance makes it seem like 6 people were wounded.

When there is a drunk driver crash, do they talk about all the drink specials at local bars?

How will they condemn the CHL holder in this instance? The same ways they always do:

-He should have let the robber have what he wanted and let him be on his way. It's a shame that this gun nut valued property over human life.

-He had no proof that the robber actually intended to do anyone any harm.

-What makes this store more deserving of their property than the robber?

-Did anyone consider that maybe the robber was desperate and robbery was the only way he could survive?

-Why didn't he fire a warning shot? Why didn't he just shoot the gun out of the robber's hand?
