Military Channel has a show called "Tac Tech" on which they show how a particular piece of equipment is manufactured. Last night was the M203 grenade launcher from LMT, the OKC-3 bayonet from Ontario Knife, and a type of parachute by Airborne Systems.
For those of us who are not that knowlegable about machining/metal fabrication/parachute sewing & assembly it's pretty interesting. They illustrate the manufacturing process from maching of raw forgings to final finish, plus it's a nice promo for the companies involved.
Hell, I didn't know that the basic bayonet blade is stamped out of carbon steel sheet stock before further processing. I didn't know you could stamp something that thick and tough.
If you get a chance, catch the re-runs.
