My brother-in-law already has way too many handguns (I know what you're thinking - trust me, too many guns is a very real thing), but is considering a P2000 LEM V2 in 40S&W. He has a POS Remington 1911 that he won in a raffle, and has had up for sale for some time. Someone is offering him a trade for the H&K.

It's a V2, but I hear that's only a couple springs away from a V1 trigger. Really, I'm just wondering about resale - it seems like the used H&K might move better than the new 1911. He has a VP9, FNX, USP Tactical, 4 different PPQs, P226, P220, a dozen Glocks, etc., so I don't see this being something he really needs to fill a gap. Is the "V2" on the slide a huge downside for resale?

I wouldn't think so. Some people prefer the V2 because it provides a more 'stout' return to reset. But, you are correct, the only difference between the V1 and V2 is the trigger return spring (TRS). That's it. That's where the extra pull weight (and reset weight in a matter of speaking) comes from is the resistance of the TRS, as the V2 TRS is a little heavier than the V1 TRS.

The V1 has a trigger weight of ~4.5lbs and V2 I think is ~5.5lbs. So it's not like the V2 is a heavy trigger... like NY Glock trigger heavy, just heavier than the V1.

I do not believe HK is marking trigger group version on the slide. Only place would be on the box.

Mmmkay, thanks. I don't see any downside of swapping a Remington for an H&K, as long as it's not some red-headed stepchild of the HK world. I'll give him my thumbs-up.

I would make that trade all day, even though I hate .40 S&W...

This.

There's tons of info on HK springs and trigger variants on hkpro.com. It's an easy swap.

The P-2000 is pretty much the red headed step child of the HK world..

Which is a shame because it carries better than any other gun they make.

The P2000 is probably the most practical gun they make. Fantastic carry piece.

I have a P2000 V3 in 40 and really like the gun. Doesn't have the pulse that 40 typically has. Feels the same as my Glock 19 to me. I did change out the hammer spring, trigger return, and drop safety plunger spring. Is the trigger like a West German Sig, well no, but it is pretty good. It is very accurate and boringly reliable. If anything the past ammo panics should teach us is to not settle on one caliber. I would see 40 available where the neckbeards were scooping up all the 9mm.

My P2000 in .357SIG feels quite a bit more than G19 to me, or P30 and P30L in 9 mm. I'd skip .40S&W, but that's just me.

Mine are DA/SA - but I have both a P2000 and P2000sk

The P2000 is my daily IWB carry gun. The P2000sk, I usually pocket carry it in my front cargo pants pocket.

I have a V2 LEM and a DA/SA both in 9mm. I actually prefer the V2 trigger as it feels smoother on take up and much more positive on reset. I had a light LEM HK45c and I never really liked that trigger, it felt too much like a two stage for me, for a handgun.

I will second what others have already said. IMHO the P2000 is HK's best carry piece. The right size for good concealment while still allowing good control. More streamlined slide than the USPc and a rail that will allow full size weaponlights if needed. I feel HK makes the most solid feeling polymer framed pistols on the market. The only downside is there are not many options for sights. Mine have HDs, but those are not my preferred choice. I keep wishing Heinie or Ameriglo would come out with a stacked dot setup for them.

A great pistol....I'd highly recommend it!

I converted mine to V1, put Trijicon HD sights on it, and currently carry it AIWB with a flush base magazine.
