The only gas-piston rifle I'd consider would be LWRC, and they have a 14-week lead time last I checked.

(biting tongue to resist urge to comment on usefulness, or lack thereof, of piston ARs.... whoops, too late.)

What he said - or didn't say ;).

Go get a CD M4LE or S&W MP15 and start shooting.

You may want to do some research before making comments from now on ;)

For a good piston system, pick up an HK416 upper and then pick out a lower of your choice. Many come in the 10.5inch length in which case you'll have to go through the SBR route. Some are 14.5inches, but you can get around the SBR law if you have someone permanently attach a muzzle device to it to bring the barrel out to 16 inches.

As for a quality direct gas gun, the Colt 6920 is hard to beat, but it features a longer 16 inch barrel, plus an A2 flash hider. It can be cut down and registered as an SBR though, or you can permanently affix a muzzle device.

Good luck!

Bad joke that went over head I guess. Trying to be funny, but I guess not. ;)
