to follow up on my EDC small bag,

I ended up purchasing a Maxpedition PILI Versipack.

LAPG had them for $24 plus shipping and I kick myself for not buying another in black.

I was skeptical at first but I read a review where a G23 fit in the main compartment.

When I got it, I immediately liked the size but wondered if my plain clothes duty carry would fit (G19)

Well it does and what I like about this pack, its small enough to hide under an oversized shirt. I guess it helps being 6"03" and 270 lbs.

anyway……it has a good size velcro attachment for patches. I want to go in the opposite direction for a patch.

No flags or tactical wording…..any ideas, links or cool non tactical patches.

I have been doing some google searches but hitting a zero.

thanks in advance

Not knocking your decision. Your money, your gun, your choice.
This isn't rhetorical, as I really am interested in understanding, why carry in a bag like this (any bag) when much more accessible/discreet options exist in the for of holsters?

Regarding the patches, I'd get a big Nikon, Canon, or Sony patch that screams "camera" and not "gun" or "cop".

This will not be 100% carry in this manner. I liked your response for my EDC and will be getting a couple more holsters to accent my taste in clothing.

The bag may carry just minimal supplies and the G19 or Shield will be in my waist band. But if the attire does not fit a holster, in the bag we go.

I like the Nikon or Canon patch. Need to find one.

Kind of reminds me of the Jedi mind trick scene from one of the Star Wars movies:
"These are not the droids you are looking for"

.... "This is a camera, not a scary gun". Lol.

The only issue I see with "photographer" type patches, is that also makes the bag somewhat attractive to thieves. Maybe a boy scout patch or some kind of camping gear stuff like Coleman or something might be more discreet.

Honestly, I would look at patches that would redirect their mind to something else you are knowledgeable about. For example if you are passionate about Classic Era cars slap a patch showing one of the many vehicles from that era you can geek out to. By the time they escape your soliloquy the last thing on their mind will be guy with a scary gun.

Ironically enough, most camera forums have plenty of discussions about avoiding any such patch on their bags because they don't want to attract thieves.

Ride, I like the idea of putting a Canon patch on something that might carry a gun.

I would completely agree if it were going on a bag that would be sat down at any point.

For a bag that is worn/attached to ones person it essentially eliminates any chance of theft.

The patches in this case aren't being used to deter theft, the are being used to quickly and thoroughly disguise the contents.

But what would someone think is in a bag labeled with one of those?

There's no way there's a motorcycle in that bag. ;)

This sure doesn't scream Gun! or Cop!

Might scream Drugs! though, on second thought.

Only problem that I see is that camera cases are almost universally Black, not FDE or Tan.

Old school cops often spoke of using a common brown paper bag to carry discreetly in plain sight.

I have often carried in one of the bags that my wife gets when she buys clothes at Lululemon. Nothing says "harmless" like a guy carrying a bag of yoga pants.

Being that I'm into guns and gear etc, I may have a different viewpoint than most. However; no patch is going to make me think "not gun" on a tactical fanny pack that's FDE in color and has a huge space for a patch. That absolutely screams gun.

Add in crew cut, shaved head and a belt wider than an inch. You also likely have the high scan rate and make everyone though a door... Classic cop tell.

Skinny jeans, Frank Sinatra's hat and a Starbucks cup? You are then an eclectic hipster. Otherwise the good AND bad guys easily make you.

How about a medical alert patch perhaps indicating you are a diabetic or have some other ailment?

ETA: Velcro Diabetic patch on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/DIABETIC-Insulin-Dependent-Medical-Velcro/dp/B00BODRQS6/ref=sr_1_41?ie=UTF8&qid=1448124691&sr=8-41&keywords=Medical+velcro+patch)

That's kinda slick. We went to FL for vacation a couple years back. Too hot for normal clothes and holster so I went with gym shorts, T-shirts and a Tommy Gun fanny pack with an American flag patch. Nobody ever gave me the eye.
