One of my favorite scenes involving a firearm instructor and student is in the movie Take The High Ground with Richard Widmark. He is trying to get a raw recruit on target at the rifle range. The technique he uses is not recommended.

Army Sergeants are tough! If you tried that with a raw Navy recruit, you would get shot in the ankles. :D
