About 10 years ago I bought several thousand Winchester FMJ 55gr. They were 6.8 cents apiece, which sounded pretty darned good to me, and I assumed these were Q3131 bullets. If they are, they are truly the rejects from the Q3131 line, because these are consistently horrible. It's almost impossible to find a good bullet.

Luckily, enough time has passed that at less than $7/100, I'll gladly take these for close-range plinkers. I'm loading them up over some decades-old IMR 4895 (23.5gr). SDs are good and it shoots real nice, if you aren't looking to hit anything. I'm getting about 6-8MOA. I own several handguns that group better!

Here's why - this is NORMAL for these bullets.

The bullets loaded in the lot of Winchester Q3131 that I tested looked similar to that. Despite the claims of the Internet Commando getting MOA accuracy "all day long" using Q3131, the smallest 10-shot group that I was able to obtain with that ammunition had an extreme spread of over 4".

You know perfectly well that "MOA all day long" means one time they fired a 3-shot group that eyeballed a little over 1". I see a nice three-shot one-holer in there. Sub-MOA!

I'm currently loading 1k 9mm 115g frontier bullets. First time using these, are they know to be junk also?

I bought a couple bags of Win 55 FMJs when I first started loading for my AR. They weren't discounted, they also weren't much if any better. I think I managed 3-4moa at best which is unacceptable IMO. When pulled SS109s shoot better, you know you're lobbing garbage downrange.

Unknown, I'm referring to their 55 grain fmj 223 bullets, (sorry my bad) Out of my 14.5 Daniel Defense light weight midlength I think the best 5 shot groups at 50 yards were 4-5 inches with most key holing ....Can't remember the load h335

Now i just let people who want to shoot my ar burn them up...

You couldn't pay me to take this ammo. I opened a box and found a surprise inside.

Oh wow, they finally started to include the TiN coated Unobtanium stabilizer pins to regulate powder burn?!! ;)

On the bright side, at least the brass is visibly annealed...

My gawd the bases of those bullets are just terrible! Makes me wonder if it would even be worth the effort to glue LDPE gas checks to the bottom of them to make the base/heel more uniform as they exit the muzzle.
I myself would try it, if for nothing else than just to prove the point about how important the uniformity of bullet's base it, as subjected to the gases pushing them out.

I actually sorted the bullets when I started using them years ago. I loaded up 20 or so that had consistent bases and cannelures, and they shot 2-3MOA from my 16" Bushy, without any load development, which is about what I got from XM193.
