Not knowing much about the whole laser thing beyond what I used in the Army (PEQ-2 & PEQ 15) I was wondering if the civilian market had any kind of combination of white light with a good laser? Basically, I can't ever see myself justifying the need for NODs but would like to have something with a light and laser together for simplicity's sake like the military PEQ series does with IR lights and lasers.

I know there are plenty of IR lights with lasers out there, but I can't find anything with white light instead of IR and a laser, aside from this airsoft accessory (http://www.evike.com/products/46048/). Figure if its going to go on my home defense SBR, it should be good to go for intended use.

So, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Streamlight makes some, like this monster:

Surefire makes some too.

Never tried a pistol light on a rifle. I've either had a pressure switch or a thumb switch on the back of a light. Does the fingering of it get awkward, or is it manageable?

They all have pressure switch caps available.

What's your budget? Here are a couple options.

Thanks for the ideas. Hadn't really thought of a budget since I'm just sniffing around at this for now to get a feel. But those seem like a no-go. I'm also not looking to pay extra for an IR laser I'm not going to be using.

The Surefire X-series is both a pistol and rifle light. I use my thumb to activate the switch but a pressure pad option (http://www.surefire.com/catalog/product/view/id/309/s/remote-switch-assembly-for-x300/category/70/) is available.

I just bought an X400V for my Glock. I love it. White light, IR Illum, and IR Laser.

I'm confused if you are looking for an IR laser or a visible laser though.

P.S. Get NODS. I don't think I'll ever shoot during the day again.

Surefire X400 is as good as it gets in my opinion. I had one for a while and it was great however it just wasn't for me.

Yeah, I'm not paying for NODs. I don't have access to a range or land where I could use them at night, so why bother? Plus this is for a home defense SBR. Taking the time to put on a helmet or a head harness and get the NODs just right doesn't seem practical in the middle of the night if I'm woken up as my house is getting sacked. With that, anything that has an IR function driving up the price is off the list as well. I'm not trying to be cheap, just realistic as I'm a non-traditional student on the GI Bill, a part-time job and a budget.

All I need is a white light and a red or green laser to go with it. Right now I have a Surefire light in an offset mount that I use my thumb to activate while the rest of my hand rests on a VFG, but figured a laser would be a good addition.

Looks like a decent option, but yikes on that price. It'll have to be something I save up for. I'll have to check my high end local gun shops to see if they have a model I can put on one of their rubber duck carbines to test out.

Price tag is high but they are definitely worth it!

GI Bill is cake bro!

FYI - Visible lasers are worthless. Just get a good light and call it a day.

I sold my Vis X400 as it was pointless. I ended up getting the X300V, but now I want a ****in' IR laser too...

You have me intrigued on the the X400V...

What helmet light you running, homie? I was going to pick up an M1, but I'm foaming at the mouth for the V1.

IR Inforce WML. Mounts right to the ACH Ops Core Rails.

Get that X400V man. Do it. The most fun I've ever had with a firearm is a suppressed G19 with NODs and an X400V. I say this having spent some time behind PAS13s equipped 249s, MK19s and M2s!

You're a bad influence...I want that X400V.

I'll look into the IR Inforce.
