At least 6 months ago I heard that 9mm and 0.40S&W calibers will be available with manual safety option, just like 0.45ACP pistols are. Does anybody know what came out of those plans?

SKU numbers for the manual safety guns are in the system, so the guns could be produced at any time. None have hit shelves yet, though. As of a week ago, I do not think there were any in production yet.

I once again stand corrected.

Todd: do you know if Smith plans to produce all M&P's with manual external safetys or will it be an option?

Just as with the .45's, it will be an option.

Thank you for the info. Is there any open source to look up those SKUs? I am thinking of giving my dealer heads up.

YVK -- Sorry, I've got no idea.

Outstanding news. I have been waiting to buy my next M&P's (9mm FS, another .40FS, and a 9mm compact) for this very reason. I just prefer manual safeties and keeping my manual of arms with my carry and work guns similar.

Excellent to hear, I was getting worried they weren't going to offer them!

I wouldn't expect them before SHOT next year. Just my guess, based on talking to the S&W LE rep at at SHOT back in Feb. Those with cool deal internal connections would obviously know better.
