View Full Version : Secure rifle storage for a Taco?

Not too long ago I went from a full-sized Chebby to a Taco.

What was nice about the 1500 series was you could hide a torpedo underneath the rear seats.

Not so easy with the Taco.

Any thoughts?

By "rifle" I mean truck gun. Like an M4 or M1/A.

thx.

I downsized a couple of years ago to a 2014 Tacoma. Mine is an extra cab and the back seats are pretty much worthless! I am working on something that will involve removing the rear seats completely. If mine was a 4 door I probably wouldn't do it. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

I don't you should have a problem finding a place in the "Taco" compared to the full size Taco XL.

P.S. Nom Nom

I did some research about locking ceiling mounted racks for my 2012 a while back, but since I was in NY never bit. I'm considering it again now though now that I've left that state.

There is, on another note, a super cool console vault for the Tacoma for a pistol.

That is one of the issues that keeps me in a full size GMC and away from a Taco, Colorado or other small pickup. The dinky rear seat areas and lack of hidden storage or even places for a tool box. That and the dinky beds will probably mean I will stay in a full size truck.

I love the looks of the new Tacoma and am sure it would be a very reliable beast but the small bed and lack of workable interior spaces keep me away.

Good luck with whatever you decide...

You guys might want to PM M4C member "Jer." If memory serves, he has one that's serviceable and semi-hidden.

ETA: found some pictures.

Nope, they have port holes that hold a jack and few tools. You could actually get a lot of small type items in there but not a rifle. Easiest way would be to remove seats and build a custom "safe". That's for the extended cab anyway.. the 2 door truck.

You can remove the intended plastic trays from under and behind the sears. Seems to be a fair amount of space that way.

Also, head over to TacomaWorld and poke around. Its been addressed.
