New show on Netflix, French language: A martial artist and stunt guy who has worked on movies like Taken and the Bourne movies hangs out with special forces units.

First episode is the French 13th Parachute Dragoon Regiment and... lots of HK416s.

The 13th can trace their history back to Louis XIV and fought under Napoleon, was broken up after France's surrender in WWII, and reformed by the Free French in 1944.

Episode starts with men of the 13th doing a night jump, then doing a 12 hour ruck march (still at night) with 110-130 lb. packs, followed up by constructing a hide that morning. Not surprisingly, the host can't keep up.

Anyway, interesting stuff. Seems like it might be up the alleys of certain persons on this forum.

ETA: Of interest, perhaps, to those of us living in Florida, the second episode is about Miami-Dade SRT: Gen4 Glocks with extended mag wells.

To bad is was canceled. Some of those units actually allowed Chris Ryan (former SAS) to suit up with them and carry a gun.

Saw the first episode.

The show is very well produced. The trip to Sweden reminded me of how much I can not stand the cold.

The third episode is about the French Foreign Legion's parachute commando group.

Camo'd Beretta 92s, railed FAMAS rifles, SCARs (with bayonet lugs!)....

I think that the US should use the FFL as a model for our own fighting force of people who wish to become American citizens.

Watched the whole season on a long plane ride. The French police and anti-terror likely have their hands full as of late. Contrary to the messaging you hear from the Socialist elements of French politics, the Legionnaire's comment about their mission in AFG was spot on - we fight them there so we don't have to fight them here. The FFL has been fighting the dirty little wars for years and has a stellar track record.

One other takeaway for the "MP-5 is dead" crowd is that the rumors of its death have been greatly exaggerated... It is still a premier choice for room combat.
