Welp, you already bought it, and it's a Colt factory rifle, so it'll serve you just fine, don't really know what else to report unless you got something more specific to ask.

Coobie;

I would like some input on this rifle from someone who owns and shoots one.
Looks like you are the candidate.
Let us know the good, the bad and the ugly of this specific rifle.

Thanks;
Clarence

It's a colt so it's a reliable weapon. Heavy barrel can get tiresome when running, moving while shooting. If you shoot from the bench mostly you should be happy with it. Many like lightweight barrels for running and gunning type drills and training. Hope this helps.

I used to have one like the one you just bought. At the time, I lived in Italy. I bought mine second hand.
I paid mine there 1800 euro; and that was years ago. They were rare and desirable, especially there.

I loved that weapon. It's very accurate. I would say - hence - that for your intended purpose you will be extremely happy with it.

Here's what it looked like when I got it, and then how I transformed it, over time, until I sold it to move (permanently) to the good, ole US of A.

An element of irony: I moved to California, where that rifle is now banned by name.

Thanks for the great input.

You are most welcome. If you have anything less specific to ask after the fact, do not hesitate to use bandwidth asking it.

Hence the reason some are weary of posting on this forum. Rather condescending if you ask me.

Lets see;

Already bought the rifle pretty much negating anything else anyone could/would suggest? Check.
Purpose is to shoot dirt clumps and empty coffe cans (plinker) negating any serious reliability, accuracy and/or precision concerns? Check
Seemingly no research done by OP in the first place? Check
Utterly vague question about rifle in general? Check

If this is the type of stuff some are weary of posting, welp, good.

Shoot, Tex.

Back on track. Great gun. Very accurate. Very smooth. Beefiest barrel on planet earth. I love shooting mine with irons. We put many rounds through it. Great gun for testing rounds with 20 barrel with chrono.

This is the OP's rifle. 16" 1/9 twist w/non-threaded barrel & no bayo lug. It's not the 20" barrel that everyone thinks(I thought the same as well). This thread needs closed as well.

I bought one new in 1996, when choices were very limited. I've shot about 8,000 rounds through it with no malfunctions. I can get 1", 3 shot groups with Hornady 55gr SP bullets. Mine is no longer stock (telestock, Aimpoint, etc).

I don't know that I'd buy another since 6920s or 6720s are available for the same price, but those weren't an option in the 1990s. I've noticed that rifle for sale at CDNN and have thought about buying one and keeping it stock, just for nostalgia's sake, but I've resisted the urge.
