Tried to do this through a pm to molon but his inbox is full.

Just trying to confirm as there is only a small mention of 6/3 sights have to be doubled for the zeroing notches. Trying to confirm my notches to distances.

6/3 -6 = 100
6/3 -4 = 50
6/3 = 25

I know these have to be confirmed for my rifle and ammo. I have been seeing a lot of different information and they seem to be close but can get confusing if they are talking about 20" vs 16" barrels. I mainly want to know my settings for 25, 50, and 100 as I will be competing in some local cmp matches but also might get to shoot longer distances to use the actual numbered notches on the dial. Does the "z" just past 6/3 correlate to any set distance with the 20" barrel?

check the stickies above, try searching for improved battle sight zero as well if memory serves.

I read through a bunch and seems the info is getting cluttered with miss information. 8/3 sights get -3 and -2 for 50 and 100 yards then some reference the same notches for the 6/3 sight. The only reference molon makes is sight settings should be doubled for the 6/3 sight. He gives an example of 6/3 -4 but does not say which zero it goes with.

20" barrel with M855, small aperture:
6/3 (small gap): 300 meters/36 yards
6/3 -4: 200 meters/50 yards
6/3 -6: 100 yards/meters. This is usually suboptimal unless dedicated to plinking/fun.

Failure2Stop already got it.

So would the z represent 25 yards? This will be with 55 grain around 3000 fps. At the range now to test so this should be wrapped up shortly.

Yup, "Z" is for the Army 25 meter zero procedure.

You'll be close enough to confirm at distance.

Oddly enough, I just shot this combo at the range today. BCM 20" upper with a carry handle. I zeroed 6/3-6 with Wolf Gold at 100. At 300 yards using the 6/3 small gap setting I was shooting about 6" high, and at 600 yards using big gap it was shooting about 18" low.

I suppose this is due to the higher initial velocity of M193 but the lower BC causing it to slow faster than M855 at distance.

I shot M855 only at 100 and the POI might have shifted, but I couldn't really tell because the group opened up significantly.

I was testing my hornady 55 sp and 55 fmj. Zeroed at 100 -6 clicks were good, -4 for 50 spot on, z for 25 was just a tad low but don't plan on using the 25 yard much unless i run this in an appleseed shoot. Thanks again everybody for the clerification. Now for some open sight practice.

Yeah, every rifle is different... the "z" may not be exactly what you need for a 25m zero when the other markings are accurate. Record what your own setting is for each distance and use it. Don't be surprised if the numbered markings aren't right as you get farther out as well... the carry handle sight is an attempt at a one-size-fits-all BDC for the M4 and M-16A4... so definitely get your own dope if you have a chance to shoot 300m+. It might behoove you to figure out your come-ups for distances measured in yards as well, as most ranges around these parts use that unit. And Definitely bring it out to an Appleseed. It will be a great experience if you've never been.
