So I love the size and weight of a Glock 19, but don't really care for striker fired guns. I know the advantages of it but I have tried several at this point and they just aren't for me l, I tend to do better with either SA or DA/SA guns. That being said I have narrowed my search down to either the HK P2000 or the Sig SP2022. Is there one you guys would choose over the other or a different option I haven't thought of. This gun would ride the night stand be used at the range and get carried from time to time.

Have you thought about the lem trigger for the p2000? Perhaps a Uspc 9mm as it is very comparable to the 19 in size.

I have been thinking of the elm trigger it interests me. I have looked at the USPc and I like it but I like the ergos of the P2000 more. The USP is just a little too blocky for me.

You might see if you can rent/borrow a LEM gun to try first, The LEM isn't for everybody, it's a entirely different animal than DA/SA. And, it takes practice to stay proficient with it. I have a P-2000 in LEM and have never shot it well, if fact, I'm considering selling it. I've found I do much better with DA/SA...

Me too that's the reason I'm looking at these two guns.

I'd also take a look at the Beretta PX-4 Compact and the CZ P-07.

I looked at those two I have two Berettas now and M9 and a 84F. I like them both but don't fully care for the safety on the slide, the CZ is nice but the slide is so tiny on it. Plus it price of mags for P07 just seems out of line even compared to HK.

You're going to be hard pressed to beat the P-07 for the initial price of the gun. I saw one in my area sub $500 the other day. Mags are a tad high around $43 a pop. The P-07 will also use P-09 (19 rounds vs 15) mags and they run about $46 a pop. Holsters are available but not at glock levels. The CZ USA and CZ Custom websites have all the parts you would want or need for them, and Cajun Gun Works sells some nice upgrades for them.

Take a good look at the FNX. The ones I've shot really impressed me.

For riding the nightstand an HK45.

Between your two choices the P2K.

Okay, of the two, I'd seriously lean towards the P2000, reason being is that mags are currently like $20 at CDNN and parts and stuff can be found a little more readily than the Sig, at least in my experience/knowledge. And mags for the sig can be a royal bitch to find, been there and done that for a friend of mine.

That said, both guns are pretty damn nice, and the 2022 has shot very well for me when I have worked with them and came close to buying them several times. I do like them. But the P2000 just is easier to support in my opinion. Hell, if I need to back up my argument, I am considering a P2000SK as a carry gun, perhaps in the next year, we will see.

Thanks for the replies guys and looking for plenty more input. Looking at what I currently shoot a lot of now I'm leaning towards the P2000 but the CZ is very interesting.

Find a good rental range and try them all out.

I've been very happy with the P-07.

Someone posted a thread on pistol-forum talking about the PX4 compact being a G19-esque DA/SA pistol. I have a soft spot for decock-only DA/SA guns, probably because my first handgun was a Ruger P95dc that I still have.

Good thing about the P2000 is the trigger and action is customizable using factory H&K parts. The LEM isn't for everyone however I prefer it and you can use USPC mags in the P2000 as well. All the pistols to include the CZ are great choices however I'm partial to H&K. Will you be shooting suppressed at all?

No I won't be shooting suppressed at this time, maybe in the future.

I had a Sig PRO and would get the HK.

I have a Sig Sauer P239 that is very accurate and recoil is easily manageable. If you want a higher capacity handgun, the P226 is a very good choice. They both have a decocker and the single action trigger is very good.

If you keep an eye out, periodically distributers offer deals on refurbished Police trade in P226s that look like new.

What were the issues with the Sig that made you go with the HK?

The HK's are more money and have garbage triggers (no, I don't think LEM makes it any better)

I do like the CZ P-07/P-09 a lot

Sig is also an option but they feel very clunky to me and they are more money

You should consider looking into the Walther P99 series. They are double action-single action striker guns which to me at least, is a very appealing combination. You get the ability for "double strikes" while not having an exposed hammer to get in the way for draws or get blocked by debris. The Turkish company Canik makes a P99 clone (in both DA/SA and SA) which is pretty affordable and I also like but I'm not sure about how they do in the long term.

I've owned both. To me the HK looked and handled like a better quality gun, but knowing how much more I paid for it may have influenced my thinking somewhat :) That said, I no longer own either one and kept my Glocks.

Unless they've gone down in price since I had one earlier this year, the 2022 mags are up in the $40 range as well. Used you may see them at $30, but I believe I only found 1 at that price.

Cdnn and Greg cote llc both have 2009/2022 mags from $30 - $40 depending on capacity and manufacturer (Sig vs Mcgar)

I'm with Kain - if you buy a P2000 you can get a P2000SK for a compact backup.

More money yes... garbage triggers? Really? Then recommend a Canik in the same paragraph? Never understood the extreme hate for HK on here.

I would take that HK over that Sig. I think a 229 Legion albeit expensive would be better than both of your options.

The P2000 is my preference. I have owned them off and on for more than 10 years. They are basically the G19 of the Hk line up. They eject consistently and are reliable with even the crappiest east block ammo (hammers, even with restrike, will rarely need it compared to a striker). Just a great gun. I can't comment on that Sig because I have never owned one. My preference is for the std LEM trigger. It is a teensy bit heavy compared to some of the striker guns, but it gives you extreme consistency and a better margin of safety. Great guns.

Lightweight, alloy framed, compact CZ-75D PCR or P-01. Both are about the size of a G19, and about the same weight, maybe a tad heavier. They take standard CZ-75 mags and the standard compact mags. Mec Gars mags can be had inexpensively, and are OEM for CZ. A PCR is my primary carry for the last 15 years.
