View Full Version : Leupold Mark4 vs. VX-R - need opinions on owners who've used both

I have a Leupold MK4 2.5-8x36 MR/T M1 TMR Illuminated (67915).
Great scope, but the 8x isn't cutting it. Close, but not enough. A 12x-14x should work a lot better for me.

I am looking at the Leupold VX-R 4-12x40 Ballistic Firedot Illuminated 111240 as a replacement.

I know these are two different classes - no turrets on the VX-R, build quality isn't quite as good.

I'm mainly worried about the optics quality, light, eye relief etc.

Anybody with opinions please throw 'em out. :)

Thanks!

I have used several Mk4 the 1.5-5 MR/T, the fixed 12x, and have a 4.5x-14x LR/T. I also have two of the VX-R 3-9's on hunting rifles with the No4 illuminated reticle. I have been satisfied with the quality of the VX-R and the optics are not bad.
