Get a colt 6720 from G&R for $799 and go buy $200 worth of mags and ammo.

That is a very good idea, and a hard price to beat on a better quality rifle. Unless there is something you have to have on the Sig, Grant will get you taken care of;

I paid about $800 for mine a few years ago and it has been flawless. Remember though, sample of one. I've read a handful of reports of the extractor support stud coming out of the barrel extension and causing a jam. Seems to be isolated to small number of rifles and I haven't read those reports in over a year. That stud is unique to Sig, and is really a solution for a non-problem. All in all, I think they are well built as a whole.

All that said, I wouldn't pay a grand for one. Livefree's idea would be a better way to spend that $1k. Or spend a bit more and pick up a BCM. You could also check Sionic's offerings.

These have the added benefit of a mid length gas system.

Spend about 10 minutes with Google and "Colt 6920 for sale" and I am sure you will find one sub-$1000.
