It's been a lean couple of holiday's the last few years with the economy grinding my business into a fine powder and things going to crap on my house like falling domino's requiring large unanticipated on an almost monthly basis. As a result my wife and I have simply been doing the "nice dinner out" Christmas present for awhile.

Things could be better, but they have been worse and we've done some serious digging out and squared away some major expenses. I've been skipping the really expensive new gun option lately and asked the wife not to make a firearms purchase this year for me. That said I was finally able to get her something decent, she's been in desperate need of a laptop that doesn't suck as badly as the one her employer provides so that should make her life a little easier.

I wasn't expecting a lot, and I sure wasn't expecting this.

If you are unsure of what you are looking at, pop over to ebay and search "Focus On Bettie Page" and pay attention to the going rates. This has been the missing "holy grail" in my Bettie Page collection for decades. Basically every time I came across one in acceptable condition, I ended up buying a gun instead. And this one is one is in better condition than any example I ever considered buying. It really is "near mint", which is no easy trick for something from 1963.

This might actually top a "wife who will buy a gun for you."

Thankfully she knows which collectors and dealers I deal with regularly and I've been assured she did much better than "market value" when it came to pricing. Also squared away a pretty decent katana (my gift to myself) but I'm not sure which is actually my favorite.

Things were a little lean after two years of finishing my degree and only teaching minimally with private students. I went back to teaching full time in August as a contract instructor for AFSOC so the wife got a new Ford Escape and I got two new (to me) Wilson Combat CQB models. One railed "Cave Gun" SF serial numbered and one non-railed used but unfired.

Glad things are going better for you and your family.

I've had similar experiences with my house the last two holiday seasons. Two issues alone over the last 5 days. Electrical issue that I couldn't figure out, major $$ out the door and time investment to do what I wasn't willing to pay someone to do for me. Followed closely by a sump problem that requires excavating, from the foundation of the house, 50 feet and 5 feet deep, to replace the entire pipe through which my sump ties into the sewage system. BIG time $$.

I don't know anything about the magazine, but that is one mighty fine looking Katana!

Can I bring my MP5 clone over, and take a pic of it on your tile when my stamp is approved? After all, your clone and tile provided the inspiration. Congrats on the great gifts from your special lady.

Just one problem, mine aren't clones.

My mistake. I thought yours started as MKE94's. I guess I got that from here, https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?74645-MKE-%28AT94K-AT94P%29-Turkish-HK-Contracts. I went with the MKE94P, and it will wear an A3 stock.

Well, since we got that issue out of the way, I will contact you for your address once I receive my stamp.

... I hate you....

Seriously, I can't get my hands on one much less consecutive numbers.

Here I was happy about getting Fallout 4.

If it makes you feel better, they aren't transferable. Being factory MP5s they are pre 86 dealer samples so only a SOT can buy one. However they are "pre 86" so even if I ever drop my SOT or FFL I can still keep them. But I can only sell them to another SOT.

1st off...gawtdayum Bettie Page is hot. Like...she looked evil but you can tell from her eyes she is actually really a nice person.

2nd off, you should adopt me. I can offer you an SR25 for your Bettie Page magazine's hand in marriage and maybe on of them MP5s if the adoption falls through

It's kinda sad that she was so iconic but didn't benefit much from it until a few years before she passed away. I was able to buy several things from Bunny Yeager's collection before she passed away, and according to her, Page was a really nice person. Difficult life at times, but seems like she tried.

I do not really know who Betty Page is but looks very intriguing.

Do presents to yourself count? I bought myself a Shield with a RCS phantom + mag holster.

Betty Page is THE gold standard for the dark vixen.

She could do BDSM and other kinky things without looking remotely whorish.
She could be sexy without being slutty.

There was this movie, The Notorious Betty Page with Gretchen Mol. It took a few liberties but was overall a good biopic.

She held to her religious convictions and wasn't negative. She said in the last interview before her death that nude pictures never conflicted with her beliefs because people were meant to be naked. She also said that she didn't want to be photographed in her old age so as not to take away from people's memory of her. There's a few pictures of old Betty Page online and she still has kind eyes and while old, still looks like she did.

A lot of her pictures were destroyed and a lot of the surviving pictures of her were taken well into her 30s. She had a thick southern drawl and some of her "speaking" films were dubbed over.

I have a BP sticker on the old rifle case I tote my HK91 in. Because even though HK91 looks mean, it's a sweetheart.

And presents to yourself most definitely count.

Got a savage 93 FV-SR in 22 mag. It's a sweet shooter. I'd been needing a rim fire I could suppress. It's also a perfect little practice gun to compliment my Savage 10-TR

If you haven't seen the documentary "Bettie Page Reveals All", do yourself a favor and buy it. It's the best thing I've ever seen on the subject. Doesn't try to be exploitative, just tells the story as it happened and tries to set the record straight. Includes an interview done with Page in her later years.

You will love the Benelli! I've been shooting the SBEII for about 5 years now. It's my go to shotgun for everything from Dove to Turkey.

This year we didn't spend much on each other but I was able to talk my wife into getting me this. Ruger's new 454 Casull Super Blackhawk Bisley
