I currently have 2 CFL bulbs in my garage and I just installed a 2-bulb t8 shoplight for the bench but it's still very dim. I reload and do a lot of stuff out there and I'm looking at getting 2, 4 bulb t8 bays, but I'm wondering if there are more cost effective LED solutions. All the LED bays I see have less than impressive output. Thanks.

I got some non brand name LED lights that look like the traditional fluorescent bulbs. They came in sets of 2 and you can connect them together and run them into one outlet. picked them up from Amazon. They do a good job of lighting up the garage since I am in the same boat with only having two other bulbs trying to light up a car and a half sized garage.

I wired up 8 LED lights from Lowes, $69 each I think. The are super bright, 3200 lumens each. Basement/garage is 18 X50.

I want to do the same thing. Those of you that have used the LED bulbs have you noticed a constant stream of light or is there flickering that's harsh on the eyes?

Thank you, I keep finding stuff for $30 with 700lumens, what your talking about makes more sense.

Thats still over $500. 2 t8 4 bulb bays will get me over 23000 lumens and cost $150 for bays and bulbs.

Bigugly, same here 1.5-2 car. Do you have a link? I don't think I've seen those.

Sleeklighting on amazon. Mine are a different model but the ones they show are brighter than mine

These are constant. They were not cheap, but I am very happy with the brightness. A 2 car garage you may get away with 2 if its not too deep.

head over to garagejournal.com and into the lighting sub forum. Information overload on lighting.

They have all kinds of stuff broken down over there including buying T8 fixtures and retrofitting LED tubes.

I "think" the general consensus for cost vs. life is still a T8 fixture with a good bulb. There are T8 fluro's that are offering 50k-80k hour life.

I put some T8 tracks in my garage, along with a few new outlets. It really changed my whole garage and made it much more functional. The LED's, vs the cost and life of the T8's, just didnt jive for me.

I don't have pic because and I'm of the country for the next 7 months but I installed these in my garage.

The dimensions on the garage are:

19'x19' with 10' ceilings

My step dad and I flush mounted these by taking them apart and drilling a new hole from the top. These have two LED strips per side so it's extremely easy. The LEDs are very very bright, silent and this particular brand comes in several sizes. I went with the 2' x 2' and absolutely love them... you can practically do surgery in your garage. The only pic I have is of two pistols on the floor and you can see how bright the lights are, almost like a studio.
