I searched around and found some conflicting info here about putting blast shields on standard carbine-length gas system 16" barrels. I've never shot one but I am very intrigued with the idea of directing the concussive force away from the shooter and others on the firing line. It seems like a good idea for hunting or any other situation where one is shooting without earpro (HD, etc.).

Some posts here say they are great with 16" barrels, and some say that they will cause the carbine-length system to overgas on a 16" barrel. Is there a consensus? I do not want to hinder my properly functioning carbine, but would like to minimize the concussive blast without a suppressor if possible.
