http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/20152016/154275.pdf

Unlike assault weapon bans established in other states, there is no provision for grandfathering affected guns or magazines already in circulation in Georgia. Those with prohibited items would be mandated to move them out of state, modify them to comply with the law, destroy them, or hand them over to state police.

The Bill's Sponsor is obviously insane.

For those of you not from Georgia, she is from the city of Decatur, which is the county seat of DeKalb County.

To understand the irony of this issue, just imagine Decatur as Monrovia, and DeKalb County as Liberia.

This is laughable, and I commend her brass ballsacks.

Here's the moral of the story, kids:

1) They want your ****ing guns. Period.
2) They don't care if you are turned into an overnight felon.
3) They fail to comprehend that sort of broad-brush, sweeping-legislative tyranny is THE EXACT REASON WE HAVE A GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO ARMS.
4) They will never stop. No matter how "Red" your state is, there's some urban shithole producing statist socialists that would love nothing more than to disarm you. They will never stop.

This won't pass, but that's not the point.

They've unmasked, fellas. And they've told us exactly what the end game is.

"No one is coming for your guns."

I wish we could get pro-gunners to do the same.

Georgia is getting weirder.

Every bigger city is bluer than a choir boys balls on a chaperoned prom night.

The outlying parts are pretty red.
There is a STRONG anti-gun contingent predicated here on the grounds that it is 'racist'.

There are otherwise educated, six figure people in positions of authority in this state that honestly believe that these hoodrats should be able to rape and rob in relative safety.

No shit. I myself have decided on A. a career change and B. change of venue.

It just gets more and more frustrating.

Outlander is absolutely correct. This place looks more and more like Liberia every day.

Any place wanting a reformed Popo with awesome gun laws, and like the right mix of ample chested blondes and artsy goth chicks needs to let me know

Everytime some GOP guy in outer-Wyoming says something harsh about abortion, the Progressive machine goes into full hysterics about 'women's health' and 'choice' and how the GOP is like the Taliban and coming to take your uterus.

I was going to disregard this silly comment, but on its own merit, I'll address it:

If I had a lovely wife and young children. If I had those things and the ATF or Federal Bureau of Incineration showed up at my porch in battle rattle and barking orders. Knowing full well what could happen; yep, I'd turn everything in. From my most pissant .22 to my ECC. Not a second thought nor tear in my eye. Because I'd sooner enjoy the most important things in life.

But as a guy nearing 40, single, no kids, and having spent my entire adult life on ghetto patrol.
Well....that would be entirely, diametrically different. Like than Van Halen song Running with the Devil, "Got nobody waiting at home."

But as a rational, well-reasoning adult; I would sincerely hope that in this age of tele-communication and networking that we could organize and protect our rights legally and sensibly through well vetted elected officials, and positive, meaningful activism that doesn't entail apocalyptic militia cosplay.

So in the meantime, I'll chuckle at the efforts of this Cynthia "the crackhead" McKinney wannabe, understand that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance and constant attention to detail, donate and retain membership in the NRA, and try to keep company with positive shooters be they military, LE, or a responsible citizen.
And most importantly, live my life.
And live it as happily as possible.

Because this may be all we get.

I, for one, have an entirely different opinion. I will not surrender my guns and leave my family's safety in the hands of the state. I'll be damned if my wife or son is a picture in some history book about genocide or another atrocity.

I've said it before but I'll say it again; we fight as one or we fall together. Never surrender.

I think a lot of mileage could be made by reminding people about the Clinton's record on guns. Not that Hillary is afraid to go out there and remind people how anti gun She is, but;
A lot of people have forgotten Janet Reno, Lon Houriuchi and the things that went down during the Clintons tenure as POTUS and "CoPOTUS". A gentle reminder might be timely at this point.

Discretion is often times the better part of valor. Doing a one man armed stand to defend your gun rights is not brave it is stupid. If 20 federal agents show up at your house to take your guns, no matter how skilled you are you are going to lose that fight.

During the Revolutionary War, the patriots didn't take a stand by themselves at Lexington and Concord they took a stand with other like minded people.

I'm pretty sure that's not going to occur, but if it does, treat them kindly after checking the Warrant and call your Lawyer to come over.
What will they do if they find nothing but an old bolt action .22 and a broken Remington 870?
Oh yeah and ask them to use some muzzle discipline, leave the door breaching tools outside and to please take their boots off before walking on your carpet.

We've mentioned this before on here but a couple of salient points:

1) Yes, discretion is the better part of valor. The "Molon Labe" types with a gun by every window will be the first to go.

2) Nothing occurs in a vacuum. If a confiscation-level event is about to happen you'll know well in advance. Therefore if you have something they want to find when they come looking you're an idiot. America is a B-I-G country, shit can disappear easily.

3) God forbid it ever come to that but if we've reached the point where the authoritahs are kicking in millions of doors perhaps it's time for......well, it's just time. ;)

To 7.62NATO......I agree a majority will comply. Families or not they are worthless. However, estimates say there are 65 million gun owners in this country. If 64 out of 65 bow down that still leaves one freaking million ARMED people saying "F**k you!". Not a foreign enemy, but right here, in our backyard. Not manageable and a bite bigger than the powers-that-be can chew. You don't have to win, you just have to keep things turned upside-down until the sheeple who elected these bastards cry "uncle".

Speaking of "it's time" - from the bill itself:

The text gets very specific when it comes to how large-capacity magazines will be handled under the law, if, indeed, HB 731 is passed, detailing the imposed punishments for those who still have them in their possession after Jan. 1, 2017.

“Any person who possesses a large capacity magazine on or after January 1, 2017, that was obtained by such person prior to July 1, 2016, shall be fined not more than $100.00 for a first offense and shall be guilty of a felony for any subsequent offense,” it reads. “Any person who possesses a large capacity magazine on or after January 1, 2017, that was obtained by such person on or after July 1, 2016, shall be guilty of a felony.”

Those who do possess either an assault weapon or a large-capacity magazine, as defined in the text of the bill, on July 1, 2016, will need to either modify the weapon to magazine to “render it permanently inoperable or such that it is no longer an assault weapon or large capacity magazine” or give the firearm over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to be destroyed; gun owners will have an Oct. 31, 2016 deadline to do so.

The bill offers a number of dates when the "it's time" button could get pushed.
