Though, not an AR barrel, I'm curious why my new factory 870 barrel is magnetized. I posted in here in hopes someone has a specific answer...
Had a replacement barrel Sent from Remington. After getting the barrel, I installed the barrel and noticed a magnetic pull...though it isn't a strong pull.
What step of the barrel making process would cause this?
Any at home remedy can demagnatize the barrel?
Not sure why this wasn't posted in the shotgun area.

Use a degaussing coil - if there are any old school TV repair shops around they should have one, I would definitely call before wandering in with an 870 though.

That's why I will wonder in with just the barrel. Don't know of any TV repair shops around anymore
You can also try running a older style soldering gun (one of the larger ones with a trigger in it) I used to repair TV's in the "old" days and when we didn't know where some idiot put the degaussing coil a soldering gun would usually work. Just plug it in and pull the trigger and lay it's side (plastic) along the barrel and run it up and back a few times. Worked just as good as a coil.
Sounds like someone mag particle inspected the barrel and didnt demag. Google magnetizing coil, my Dad and I made one when I was a kid for about $20, the ones from NDT cost a lot more for what you get.
also, any steel alloy CAN and most likely will acquire a slight amount of a magnetic field just form work hardening of the surface. it can go away from heat. stainless steel will do this often too.
