I just received my Sig MPX Gen.2. I was worried I might have buyers remorse after it arrived, but I really don't. I bought the 8" barrel version with Sig SBX brace. I will Form 1 it within the upcoming months. While Sig cut costs by not shipping with the hard plastic case or cleaning kit, they did add a keymod rail and the upper no longer needs to be swapped to go to .40s&w or .357sig. Now it is just a barrel/bolt swap. The magwell was redesigned and takes a gen.2 mag and the ejection port is slightly larger to accommodate the other two calibers. The weather is starting to take a turn for the worse and it will be next week (at least) before I can give it a good break-in and function test.

Nice. This is next on my purchase list. I can't see any need for the brace, so I will put in the form to SBR it immediately upon purchase. I just need about another month or so to squirrel the money away and then I will make the move.

The only reason I bought the brace version was because it will be a few months before I file the form 1. I really like the brace's mount though. It lifts slightly, folds and is held by retention. There is a $125 or so to save by not getting the SBX brace version.

I understand completely. I would be filing a form 1 on the day I got it, but everyone is on a different timeline. I figure I could use the $125 to buy a stock, either the collapsible one that SIG makes, or something like this: http://www.titleiiarms.com/Sig_Folders.html. Plus, I am a big fan of of Hogue grips, so I would likely be replacing that as well.

Does the bolt not have to change between 9mm and .40 case heads?

I would assume, but I haven't seen the conversion kit. I bet it is the bolt and barrel. I should have elaborated on that.
Am I right in presuming that if I see the keymod rail that it is the gen 2 rather than 1?

That is the way the SIG CS rep (Jeff) stated it to me.

Thanks. Getting ready to make a move on this and I just want to be sure I know what I am looking for.
Have you seen prices for the SIG collapsible stock? There is one for sale on here for around $650, which seems ridiculous to me.
You will get a 20% off coupon with your rifle for mags and assecories. Sig will sell it for sub $300. I think I paid $237 for mine. Order directly from sig.
They still don't have the 3 gen 2 mag pouches available. I could care less, because until I get my stamp , I could give a shinola about shooting it.

Yea, I had no idea I had to figure it out on my own
Good luck
i gave up after the gen one.... too many headaches, not to mention now there will be 2 mags, 2 uppers. 18 barrels ect ect... its just not worth the terrible customer support you get with sig now a days... plus when suppressed its probably the worst "gas to face" culprit of any gun ive ever shot...
Keep in mind that if you do want the Sig collapsible stock there are currently two versions of it: the original designed for the MPX and the newer version that's compatible with both the MCX and the MPX. The newer stock is slightly wider and has shorter rails to help clear the forward assist on the MCX. It's also the only version that's currently available from Sig, even though it isn't listed on the Sig store.
From what I understand the original version with the longer rails is still in production, as it ships with the new MPX carbines. Sig claims that it will eventually be for sale individually, but only time will tell.

I bailed on the gun for this reason.
However... For people stuck with the Gen1, SIG is doing the free replacement to Gen2, that actually seems like a great deal. I'm not sure why anyone would intentionally keep the Gen1s...
Found a video from Sig breaking down the differences between the Gen 1 and 2

Made an order yesterday from Arsenal Arms for an 8 inch Gen 2 MPX. I intend to go ahead an SBR it right away, so I didn't bother with the brace. I only got the one mag that comes with it for now, but I can pick more of those up over the next few months. I need to contact SIG about the collapsible stock and see if they have any avaiable and what the lengths are so that I know what to put on the form 1.
There is also this stock, which might be a contender as well: http://www.gotammollc.com/SIG-MPX-MCX-PDW-STOCK-SYSTEM-p/pdwsig.html
Does anyone know anything about this company, or this stock that they make?
I still would like to have one of these but I'm glad I waited....

They'll have me when the gas system is adjusted or fixed for suppressed use (since it's a port at the chamber itself, I doubt this will be fixed without a manually adjusted system) and maybe when they can get the prices on accessories down to reasonable.
Until then, the MPX makes the MP5 look cost effective :D

LOL. Yeah. For me it's one of those to add to the collection because I find it interesting mechanically not a hard use gun. I figure for my collectibles if I'm overly concerned with cost I need to find another hobby. All this stuff is a money drain it's just a matter of degree lol

That appears to be the ZR Tactical Solutions stock. While it's probably fairly well made, most people prefer the factory collapsing stock which can be had from the Sig Store for $239. There is plenty online, some good and some bad, about the ZR stock if you Google it.
The Kate Moss (skeleton) stock that comes standard with the MCX is excellent on the MPX and probably my favorite option if I plan to shoot more that 500 rounds. I've seen reports that Sig is selling the Kate Moss for under $200 if you call them. Both the KM and collapsing stock are shipping from Sig within 3 weeks of order.
Finally, the Gen2 Sig Essentials Kit is now available; that is 3 mags and a pouch for $139 shipped. Again, call Sig directly.

I have yet to shoot mine, the one (Gen1)I shot prior to ordering mine was a great shooting pistol. We shot it suppressed and it did have some blowback in our faces. I had expected it to be far worse. If the weather holds out I hope to shoot mine at the beginning of the week. I am hoping Sig gets the conversion kits out soon. I am dying for a .357sig MPX.
Just got mine in today and I am looking forward to getting to see how it shoots. I need to submit a Form 1 and buy another few mags, but that is going to have to wait until the first of the month. My funds are tapped out at the moment. :(
These look cool. To SBR one, do yo have to have it engraved? Can you leave the store with it as a pistol while waiting for approval?
I left the store with mine as a pistol and then submitted my form 1. To my knowledge it will need to be engraved.
Everybody buys as pistol , then may choose to SBR. I did
My Form 1 is in, so hopefully it comes through without issue.
Hey guys this is my first post, so a big hello to everyone.
Well after reading all the posts and thoroughly checking them out...........I caught the MPX bug and bought a Gen II factory SBR yesterday!
I also purchased an Innovative Arms suppressor with it. The barrel was immediately removed and is being shipped back to IA on Monday to be shortened and ported! Hopefully 5 months or less from now I'll be rocking my suppressed SBR Sig MPX.

Any reports on suppressed Gen 2?
I have a Gen 2 that has passed the 500 round mark without problems. I'm waiting for the 4" barrel to be released at which time I'll get a TROS 3-lug adaptor. I have an Octane 45 in my safe and an Obsidian in jail with THSF. Whichever sounds the best and is the less gassy will get permanent duty on the MPX.
Any reports on suppressed Gen 2?
Nothing has changed to the best of my knowledge.
IMO the issues they have (piston, gas port AT the chamber, 9mm not enough pressure) won't be fixed until the get an auto regulating or manually adjustable gas block.
Any reports on suppressed Gen 2?
I've shot mine several hundred rounds with and without can. I only had trouble shooting some freedom munitions 147gr subsonic AMMO. Regular 115 grain 9mm ran without issue.

What was the issue?
I'm mostly concerned about gas.

I didn't really study the malfunctions. Seems like they were double feeding, not ejecting properly....
The AMMO was super heavy , cheap AMMO. I want to try some silver box I have and report back on that.
gas system with can was not balanced.
