What pound spring to lighten the DA a bit, 16 or 18 ? Or just buy a pack and try till light primer strikes?

The D spring is a hammer spring. It is a factory part and here is the link to Brownells where I purchased mine. Best $6 I ever spent on a handgun modification.

Too bad dropping it in an envelope and shipping it to Arlington apparently costs $7.95.

Ok, so what is the difference in poundage between my stock hammer spring and the factory org d spring.?

D spring is roughly 16 lbs, if memory serves.

That seems to be the general consensus. And factory is 20 lbs. The best hammer spring I've played with is the Wilson Combat 16 lbs chrome silicon hammer spring.
As long as you are not running a Beretta Elite hammer you'll be fine on non-milspec (hard) primers with a 16 lbs hammer spring.

Having played with both, I would go with the Wilson 16 lbs spring. Their spring is longer and I did not experience the stacking I did with the Beretta "D" spring.

I remember guys using the 1911 Mainspring, but I don't remember the weight.

That's the Ed Brown 19 lbs main spring (hammer spring). Tried it and promptly returned to the 16 lbs spring. I have 4 or 5 of them in the original bag if someone wants to try one. Send me a PM.

I also tried the Ed Brown and got lots of light primer strikes with CCI primers.

Yea, I just stick with the official Beretta part D spring. Brownells has them in stock. I know that will work 100%
