I ordered a crye JPC and need some ideas to set it up. Living in georgia and wanting to take a few classes it gets hot as F in the summer here. went with the JPC for some extra ventilation hope it helps.

For you guys running this or similar how do you set yours up?
I plan on using the 3 mag built in at least but not sure what else i should be running on this thing.

Also a suggestion on what and where to get plates

Armor is one thing I absolutely won't cheap out on, so I stick with Velocity Systems. But there are many who are fine with a more budget friendly option like steel plates. There's lots of discussion on here if you search around for it. The JPC is supposedly a great PC, don't load it down with too much extra shit.

Trim is the plan. Only what I NEED.

If it is just for class use I'd vote for:
1. Enough mag pouches to carry the number of mags needed for classes.
2. The lightest multi curve plates you can find that stop the threats expected in your classes.

Anything else will just add weight you don't need and make the class harder to learn from.

I speak from experience. My first class that required plates I cheaped out and went single curve steel ( a decision based on knowing later on I'd pick up good ceramic plates). I just finished a 4 day class where I wore plates for 3 days. This time around I had multicurve level III+ plates that weigh in around 4.8 lb each. It was a night and day difference. Don't make your only set of plates be steel plates.

4-5lb something like this: http://store.appalachiantraining.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AT-STOP-MED

As long as you are in a 5.56 or 7.62x39 only class those would be great plates. If you have to worry about a .308 you might need something a little thicker. The hesco 3610 series stops most common ar, ak and 308 threats while staying hear 5lb depending on size and cut: http://www.hesco.com/products/armor/600-series/ .

Lee I've been running a JPC w/ ESAPI's since 2009ish, used it for square range & SH training, also for some 3G when I was uncertain of the mouthbreathers shooting it, glad more than once that I chose to wear it. Even used it in a 3 night pistol SH class w/ Uncle Pat (I didn't have my SA w/ me) & no issues. I run my JPC light & minimalist, just as Crye designed it.

That said for a period I ran a BFG 10spd. dble. pistol mag pouch thru the left side CB webbing + a BFG 10spd. double 5.56 on the back. After a neighbor/mentor named Paul got my attn., I removed the 10speeds, just slick now & use the built in mag pouches for reloads. With a Redi-mod on my SBR I have 2 mags, 3 more on my JPC & if needed for a class 2 more in my cargo pockets + some spare pistol mags & a hand held light. A dump pouch, IFAK, pistol holster & mag pouch are on my belt.

HTH, if I can assist further PM me & as always YMMV applies here.

ETA- Wake27 gave you VERY solid advice re. VelSyst plates & keeping the JPC lite but no surprise coming from him.

JPC 1.0 Large. Gotta take in the shoulder straps and they hang in ofddly under the hypalon in back.

Pig Brig shoulder pads. Fit like they were made for the JPC 1.0 strapping on either side of the factory sleeve and covers the hanging bits left over from above.

First Spear Retro Cummerbund. Fits like its factory only if the tubes are out past the tabs on the plate pocket sides, otherwise they interfere. Also the mesh matches the inner mesh of the PIG Brig pads, so an aesthetic bonus.

KYWIs in the chest pouches with bungee removed, gotta mod the middle one to not open so wide or it will stretch the shock banding that divides the mags and bulge out too much. I dremeled a hole in the weak side upper corners of the middle KYWI and use shock cord from the factory rig with knots on the outsides of the KYWI corners to hold them more closed, without getting in the way. It now hold AR or AK mags and can hold 60 round Surefire mags too.

Emdom Vehicle Hydration Carrier. Only need something this bomb proof if you intend to carry breaching tools in it. Otherwise it is too heavy. Camelbak Antidote 70oz bladder but a Source is fine too.

On the chest molle I runa RTI H Molle, a small EMT shear, and a retention tab for my hydration tube to hold it out of the way for fast donning.
On the front of the right cummerbund I run a Tourniquet NOW! strap with a Gen 7 CAT (but have a SOFTT-W elsewhere. My IFAK is on my belt. So are my pistol pouches and radio pouch.

My belt rig allows for 1 or 2 USGI 30s in the speed reload pouch on the side (Emdom Universal) and can hold AK or 60 round Surefire mags. I can run a 60 in the gun, a 60 on the belt and 3 60s in the chest if I were to have the need for 300 rounds. Usual loadout is just 150.

This is a relatively new rig for me so things may change as I find more small things to add or delete.

My belt rig has a light, 2 pistol mags, 1 rifle mag, 1 radio pouch, one dump pouch, 1 handcuff case, 1 IFAK, and a Safariland 6354 DO holster converted to RTI on a 2" G-Code drop plate. Belt is a Volund Gearworks Micro Battle belt.

Its a very experimental rig at this point. Needs a few months of use and training to get kinks worked out.

JPC v1 owner.
Front is slick, mags in kangaroo pouch
First spear retro cummerbund; I literally cannot explain how great this thing is compared to the original cummerbund.
Mbitr pouch, front left cummerbund.
Eagle horizontal ifak (unsure of exact name) on the lower back. Very flat
2 banger pouches upper back.
2 banger pouches front right cummerbund.

I've ran a lot of cqb with this kit and I've loved it. Comfy, especially if you dont overload it. I have jumped it as well, and overall jumping with a PC is painful regardless.

Can you please post pics of the kangaroo pouch mods? Also, will they hold 308 mags?

Let me see if I can link some crappy cell phone pics...
I took these just now for the thread so excuse the quality. Hopefully it helps explain a bit better. The pistol pouch as a light pouch is a no go... having something else made.

I have not tried 308 mags in the chest but I kind of doubt it due to limited width. They fit in the belt pouch.

For the IFAK, I'd go with something flat on the lower back and larger as you have no lower back support with nothing back there and while the mini IFAK is great, it has no exta gauze and I prefer a real OLAES and more clotting gauze. No room in the mini after I added a sharpie, micro shears, nasal airway, decompression needle, etc.

Mayflower low vis blow out kit may work well for that.
