I'm wanting to put a triple or double mag shingle on my plate carrier, however I shoot both AR and AK quite a bit and would love something that would work for both. Other than HSGI Tacos, do you guys know of anything that I could make work? I run TACOs on my belt, and they do work well, I'm just wondering what else is out there. I would prefer it to be open top, not really wanting anything covered.

I have seen some on SKD.com that say they are for both, but I have no personal experience with them.

Emmdom Universal rifle mag pouches hold single AR mags, 2 AR mags, .308, AK, or Surefire 60 mags. They also make the best retention radio carrier I have used with no shock cord retention. Insertion is not as easy as TACOs but better retention and build quality for similar money. Youd have to put single rifle pouches on the chest.

Oh thanks! I had not seen those before.

I can't remember for certain, but maybe TYR Tactical has some mag pouches that may work. I swear I saw some universal style pouches there before.

Just checked their website and everything looks like it's mag specific. Maybe an old item?

Just checked their website and everything looks like it's mag specific. Maybe an old item? The Rifle Mag Pouch - Combat Adjustable Happy Mag (http://www.tyrtactical.com/products/details/magazine-rifle/combat-adjustable-happy-rifle-mag/) and Rifle Mag Pouch - Combat Adjustable (http://www.tyrtactical.com/products/details/magazine-rifle/tyr-tactical-combat-adjustable-pouch/) both work with 5.56x45mm or 7.62×51mm magazines, so I'd assume they'd work for magazines in between those sizes. The Happy Mag has the integrated insert that helps with retention, similar to the Esstac KYWI.

Speaking of magazine pouch inserts, you could also try the MP2 inserts from Haley Strategic (http://www.haleystrategic.com/mp2-magazine-insert).
