Surefire Z2X. The metal body light. I've had it for years. Use it ALL the time. Swapped batteries and it's maybe a 60 lumen light.

I put it next to a 110 lumen which is very bright, and it's crazy different. I've only found one OLD thread on an LED burning. Anyone have experience?

Are you sure you used fresh batteries.

If there really is a problem I'll bet that Surefire will fix/replace. I've had great CS from them.

My first guess would be batteries (check with a voltmeter), second would be the tail cap.

A bad LED would be a distant third.

If I read my post I would for sure recommend batteries lol.

I'm not new here.

It's been a week of messing with it before I posted this, I had new batteries from a year ago that I put in. Nothing
I ordered new batteries...nothing.

Voltmeter is next. I'm thinking tail cap as well. I just have a feeling that would go out before the LED itself

Once you have checked the voltage of the batteries the I would use the DC amps scale on the meter so you can in essence bypass the tailcap.
It the light works OK it is the tailcap, if not it is the LED.

Roger that thanks for the input. In the back of my mind that's all I kept thinking but I've had it for so long it's not top priority.

My wife was saying how I'm always bitching how bright my other lights are when I use them to take a piss it might be cool to have a low output midnight pisser light lol

Also there are electronics in the module that provide the required current to operate the LED, but seriously dude, is this your only Surefire light? Need to swap parts around to try to identify the problem.
