I am trying to replace the mainspring housing on my blued 1911 government with a flat, smooth STEEL housing. No serrations or palm swell. No plastic or aluminum. No lanyard loop.

Anyone know the part number? Even better, where to find one?

I know I can go with Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, etc., but I'm trying to keep this all Colt...

Thanks!!!

Did you try Evolution in PA?

They carry some nice parts and many MSHs that are no standard.

I don't believe I've ever seen a flat, unserrated or checkered MSH from Colt. You might consider having a machinist surface an arched factory Colt MSH. I don't remember Colt ever offering one.

Colt'S Custom Shop is shut down but I believe they only offered a synthetic copy. Colts claim was that it kept corrosion down.

Best option is Wilson or EB. If you want to discreetly open your mag well and have access to a mill or are really good with a cut off wheel, burr and a file, your could hand checker a Stan Chen mainspring housing and I stall it.

For parts, Brownells. The Wilson machine checkered part is nice. The Chen is an OS blank canvas for custom fitting and and requires texture (serrate, checkering, stippling ect).

Damn, 52 and still don'the know how to post pics, lol.
