I recently finished a 20 inch A4 iron sights build. Im wanting to zero it so that my elevation drum markings actually work. I know that there was a thread a while back where someone had made up targets that had the proper POA and POI to properly zero at common ranges (ie 25 and 50 yards) and I cant find it.

I know I can do the resetting of the drum from Molon's sticky thread but I want try and not do it if possible.

I know the Marine Corps zero's at something like 36 yards for their 300 yard zero. Is there any more to it besides confirming at range?

Zero everything for 100.

That won't let my elevation drum work correctly though.

Reset the range drum to give you ability to go below 3, its 32 meters or 36 yards. We do point of aim, point of impact at the close zero range and not an offset impact point.

This is what I do. Disassemble and re-set the drum stop so that 3/6 is 300, but it can go down a few clicks to a 50/200 zero as well.

A taller front sight post can help, especially if you want to give a few more clicks on the drum to get a 100-yd zero as well

Thanks for this post! Lots of good information I had forgotten since my days in the Corp!

I zero at a hundred and figure out my 500 come up based on the ammo I shoot. It's usually more come up than the wheel indicates.

I have always been told that 36 yards is pretty well the magic number
