I have seen a few things lately online about the new Rex Zero 1 9mm handgun made by Arex, that to me looks like a complete clone of the Sig P226. I am interested however as a big P226 fan, but I wasn't aware that it was coming to the states. Today I received an email from K-var saying they were now in stock and ready to ship. The price point is interesting at $599, and it appears to made of some quality components, and comes with a lifetime warranty. I wanted to get some water-cooler thoughts on this;

I havent ever seen this.

I do wonder how it compares to the EZ99 series, close to the P226 clone, as i believe they still have a better price point.

Never used or fired and Arex before, but based on its looks and action, it seems smooth.

Can't wait to see others chime in about this.

Granted some would say those old Zastava clones are garbage, the one i used, and got to abuse, ran everything i could put through it.

Besides this weird decocking seating issue, i believe it was holding the slide slightly arrear and the decocker would make it not operate? Its been awhile since i got to use that EZ to know the exact combo that made it inoperable, i wonder if this will have the same issue.

A decocker AND a manual safety. No.

I have never seen this gun either. But thank you for posting this up, I'm interested.

To me, it looks like a cross between a P320 and P2022.

Its an alloy frame and copies more closely the P series. If the decocker does both jobs well (decocking and releasing the slide) I see this as an improvement. Adding a manual safety to that mix is unnecessary and confusing a very simply OS. It does have a nice design in the utilitarian sense - like SIG.

Polenar Tactical also made this video for the Rex Zero pistol several months back. It's basically just manufacturing footage, start to finish. Very well done promotional video if you ask me.

Cosmetically I like that they use the older style internal extractor, very slick looking. The sights can be replaced with any sights made for the SIG apparently. Uses a 17 round standard magazine, which is a nice jump from the original 15 for the P226. Cold hammer forged barrel, front serrations. I'm having a hard time seeing how this pistol is anything but an excellent value. Perhaps the added safety and combined control levers were design changes that a potential customer wanted? Maybe they added those to not be exactly like a SIG. In any event, it's obvious the build quality is there. I hope some T&E reviews start popping up, as I'm very interested in this pistol.

At the price point advertised, I'd be willing to give it a try. It's a good looking pistol and if it functions as well as it looks, it'll be a keeper

Eh, not sure I like the decocker doubling as the slide-lock/release. I'm not certain what purpose having the control do both functions serves and I'd like to take a look on the inside to see how complicated the decocking lever-cum-slide release is.

A decocker AND a manual safety. No.

Not fond of FNs or H&Ks?

Those are not separate controls, and are proven. This adds a lever. So you can then go C/L SAO?

I have no plans on purchasing one (just not lookin for a handgun in general right now) but man that is a great video.

If I was in the market for a Sig this would be on my radar... Just because the video is so well done. I hope its a good gun

Maybe we can post the video a dozen more times.

It does look nicely done and will enjoy seeing reviews. Almost like the looks better than a SIG. Heresy. I don't like the trigger curvature. Wonder how the DA pull is.

Yeah I am hoping some local shops stock them so I can get a fondle in.
