View Full Version : A5 Receiver Extension use
I have an A5 buffer and spring waiting on a RE to come back in stock on Rainier. Is there any difference between the 6 and 7 position RE for the A5 besides how many stock positions there are? I have seen the 6 position be marked as for the AR10, but can it also be used on a 5.56 AR15? I'm not too concerned about having the extra position for the stock, as long as it will work. Thanks in advance for the help.

RE-A5 has 7 positions and works with Vltor Emod and Magpul ACS and ACS/L. These stocks are long enough to utilize the 1st position of the RE-A5 which is closer to the lower than position 1 on the RE-10. The 6 position (RE-10) works with most other stocks because position 1 sits out further away from the lower so the stock does not have to be as long.
Just watch the video posted above. It is much easier to see it than explain it in words.

There is also an 8 position BCM version (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Intermediate-Receiver-Extension-A5-Buffer-Tub-p/bcm-intermediate-re.htm), my STR stock will collapse all the why to the receiver on the 2nd position.
Rather than wait on Rainier, BCM has their 8 position version in stock.

All three of the above mentioned REs have the proper internal depth to work with the A5 buffer.
