My FNS9 fell recently barrel first onto a tile floor. The muzzle end of the barrel into the crown & possibly into the rifling was damaged as a result. The fact it didn't go off on impact is a testament to the internal safeties!

Thankfully, I inspected it before firing & noticed the damage. While I don't think firing it would be a safety issue, it would definitely affect accuracy.

I'm sending it back to FNH this week for an estimate. Just a reminder to inspect your guns after potential damage & before firing at the range!http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160203/cb10eee65c10b5e54787909f8650f8ea.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160203/604cd21985bcd8e7a09f672b1060a9ac.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160203/851f8e6a65bb2811c7ed8e68b47638ed.jpg

Ouch. On the plus side that can probably be re-crowned. If not a new barrel shouldn't be too outrageous even if you have to pay for it.

Why don't you just order a new barrel and drop it in yourself?

What did it hit on the tile floor and how high was it when it dropped? That looks like some serious damage for something that just fell off a table or out of your hand at mid-chest level.

Guns should be more sturdy than that.

I would have it recrowned, personally. Or if you want a threaded/match barrel, this is a good excuse!

About 5' off the ground onto hard tiles, not laminated squares.;-)

I hope you're just sending the barrel in? For the price of a round trip for the full pistol a replacement barrel could be had. Should be plenty of smiths out there that can do a quality recrown on that for reasonable fee.

Yes, now that I have a quote for shipping! A member on another forum is repairing it for me.

I wouldn't fire it in the current state... it looks like part of the metal made it into the bore

I was going to suggest 1911forum as there are some good smiths over there. Post how it turns out!

UPDATE: Bumper returned the barrel & it looks great! Thanks again, sir. It's always cool to see how the firearms community helps one another.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160218/606e7716551e9cd9e8022e461d1e49e6.jpg

How does it shoot? Compared to a Glock 19, the FN has caught my eye over the past few weeks.

Haven't fired it since being fixed. I can tell you I shoot the FNS better than any other centerfire I own except my duty Sig 229 40. Ergonomics, sights, mag well size, trigger all rock. I own two & they're both 100% reliable. The only other polymer/striker handgun that I shoot as well & feels as good is the Sig P320...

Thats beautiful looking work. Compared to how it was after the drop, that things looks awesome.

Let us know if you notice a change in your POI. Never had to have that kind of work done and definitely interested of any after-effects.

Glad to see it back up and running though!
