This situation is among many of why I am not cool with open carry and prefer nobody know I have a gun on my person.

My general rule is I'd OC as long as I'd feel comfortable whipping out my junk.

In the woods, yes. Local Starbucks, not so much. My house, yes. The alley out back, no. See how that works, well at least for most of us.

I call shenanigans.

If the story is legitimate the "victim" had no reason to be carrying anything concealed or openly.

Going to assume Condition 3 in a nylon holster with a sprinkle of failure to act.

I call shenanigans as well. Dollars to donuts he is going sell it to some shady character for a hefty price or stash it away for a rainy day.

Once again.

There are many situations where concealed carry is the preferred method with many advantages over open carry.

There are many situations where open carry is the preferred method with many advantages over concealed carry.

The difference is knowing which carry method is best for a given situation.

This guy did it wrong. We have seen similar examples of conceal carry guys who did that wrong. Just because people can screw shit up, doesn't mean nobody else should be able to do it.

There are people who responsibly open carry every day, let's not suggest they are doing something wrong.

According to the Daily Press, a 37-year-old man in Newport News, Virginia, told police that he was robbed as he was walking across a street just before 8 p.m. last week.

According to the victim, two men approached him from behind as he was walking across a street. One man then demanded his gun as the other grabbed it from the holster on his hip and pushed him to the ground.

The victim told police that the two men fled and ran toward the trailer parks.

The Daily Press reported that both men were described as black males.

One suspect is approximately 6 feet tall and wore a puffy black jacket and black beanie. The other suspect is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with short dreads

I'm going to default to "dont be in stupid places after dark." and "you can carry a frigging cannon, but you still need situational awareness."
Crusing the Trailer Park after dark with Tyrone on your 6 and Jamal coming toward you while you try and text message your squeeze? Wouldn't matter OC or Concealed, you're getting jacked.
The gun wasn't in play until they saw it at about 3 to 5 feet.

My unit issued safariland lvl3 holsters, and during training we where able to jack guns all the time from people. The uncle mike's crowd makes me cringe.

While I believe OC should be a right, a thinking man likes to buy time.

At most, if they get the drop on me; they get a wallet. I don't want them thinking they have a chance for a weapon as well.

They only go after people they think they can take. Like an ambush or a step-on.

Usually in packs, one on one if they have committed to using a weapon.

If you look mean and carry yourself a certain way....they pick up on it.

If you get called "boss", bossman", "captain", or "lieutenant" they think you are or were something they want no part of unless it is revenge. And they know a fight may ensue. They do not want a stand up fight.

5.11s and haircuts don't front much without swagger. Just like they can tell who's been on a chain gang.

Joe Public back on the block is still a mark whether he OCs or not.

It's like...ever seen Ronin. The dude with glasses looks at a glance like an accountant but carries himself in a lethal manner. Like he would kill you just because you were in the way.

The other dude is all "weapons man" and going on about guns and being tactical and wasn't shit. In fact, he was a bitch.

OC all you like, wear polos and 5.11s all day. Don't forget to wear a multicam hat.

But what you wear is no disguise for who you are after dark.

Spot on post but I think the bold needs major emphasis. It should set off alarm bells.

Dapper Gent: [after he has deflected Gregors shot at a small girl] "Have you lost your mind? Why did you do that?"

Gregor: "To make a point. I don't know her, but I was ready to splatter her brains all over the playground. But you... I don't particularly like you. Just imagine what I'll do to you if you try anything."

How can you go wrong with a film that has DeNiro lighting shit up with a SIG 551. Ronin is right behind "Heat" and "Die Hard" when it comes to cinematic gun porn. They are like the Holy Trinity.

I still remember when it came out in '98, I was in high school and went and saw it by myself on a weekday night.
