Guys,

Noob Q.

After viewing Rob's chart again, I saw that the 6920 has a heavy buffer.

I recently bought a NIB "post ban" Colt Match Target HBAR "20. It's buffer is not stamped with an H...and it is not plastic. What do you suppose it is?

For reasons that are way too complicated to type here, I had a NY legal 6920 upper made for me by SAW and I'm currently shooting it using the HBAR lower. (It's about the NY State ban. I wanted to make a new NY legal 6920. Trust me, this was the only was I could legally get an all new Colt 6920. Please, let's not get into it!)

Because I'm using my 6920 upper on this lower, should I make sure I've got a heavy buffer? And if so, where could/should I get the correct one?

If it has an A2 stock on it then it has a rifle length buffer. Which weighs 5.2oz.

Yes, it has an A2 stock. I inferred from your post that I have a heavy buffer.

All .223 rifle length buffers are 5.2oz. With a 16" upper it's work just fine. There are no heavier buffer except for the Enidine to use in a rifle length stock.

is the Oly Arms pneumatic "heavier" (in terms of more resistance) than the traditional rifle length spring & buffer system?

I'm running an Enidine in my BM right now. It shoots beautifully. I'm considering getting one for my 6920/HBAR.

The Oly buffer itself is a whole can of worms, although they have the smoothest recoil impulse I've ever felt, on any gun. Ever.

yeah, i like the Oly buffer a lot.

i wouldnt use it on a go-to gun, but for a range toy they are nice.
