3802938029Hey guys. I really love this new SLR solo Lite rail that I ordered. I ordered the 16.5 just to check the clearance out because I love the feel of the longest rail I can get (6'4 wingspan). My question is this - would this rail be okay if I purchased a longer flash hider to shoot the flash up further from the rail? I can just get the 15.5 inch rail from them but I would really like to make this one work. I wanted to consult you guys before I made a decision as there are many minds in this forum that have infinite knowledge. Thanks guys!

Looks like the pictures are gone but this would be beneficial to read. https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?135012-I-blew-up-my-rail

Short answer is that it probably isn't workable how you currently have it. The rail should stop just a bit further back, about even with the barrel threads.

Strange, i can see the pics on all my devices. I read that post yesterday. My flash relief prongs are just in front of the rail. I figured if i got a longer muzzle device that they would clear the rail by a good half inch.

Huh, now I'm curious why I can't see the pics...

It's your rail and your hand, ultimately, you probably have the information you need to make the decision that you're comfortable with.

Look at a suppressor adapter. Maybe a Gemtech Triad. Check with them for the distance between the shoulder and port opening. I wouldn't have a problem if the opening was even with or slightly beyond the end of your rail with a three prong FH. While you're at it get a handstop for the end of the rail.

Can you see the pictures that posted GH41?

My friend has a Kx5 by noveske and i really like the way it performs but people say that it isn't useful on a 16 inch barrel.

For looks alone, I was going to suggest the same thing.

Cheap option is something like the Kaw Valley Linear Comp.

Go for the 15.5 inch rail. I also like rails that cover as much of the barrel as possible, but will not chance a rail catastrophe.
The closest I've ever gone is 1" shorter on the nominal length of the rail that the nominal length of the barrel. Even 1.5" shorter gets the rail pretty close to the muzzle device.

Looks at the expense of what. Almost a third of a pound on the end of your barrel. Why else would he put a lightweight rail on his rifle and then mount a boat anchor on the end of it? Not a price I would pay for looks.

I'll echo prior comments to just get the 15.5 rail and be done with it. We have already had threads here showing just what can go wrong with the rail covering a muzzle device that's not specifically designed for it. It just isn't worth the risk, especially if you use a "c-clamp" grip...

I have a similar wingspan to you at 75.5" and I promise you'll adapt just fine to the 15.5 rail.
