I'm ready to get another ar and its designated role will by a patrol rifle and would like to use it for a few carbine classes. I'm really leaning toward a DDM4V11 because I like the mid length gas system key mod rail and the fact that it's not very heavy but was wondering what alternatives are out there in the same price range or should I just go for the V11? I don't want to build anything right now just looking for a complete rifle.
Thanks!

I bought a BCM upper and a blem lower (although I don't see any blems) then added some Daniel Defense iron sights and I am all in for about 1100 if I recall correctly. The gun shoots like a champ, is light weight, reliable, and you can get an aimpoint or RDS of you choosing and come in around the price point of the DD. For what it's worth though I have never shot a DD, but they are freaking beautiful.

BCM Recce variants are available through your local RSR dealers and of course BCM's direct online dealers. Any one of them would make a good alternative to a M4V11, and not necessarily a second choice as far as quality goes. If you're open to MLOK for a handguard system the FN15 Tactical 16" has been doing well also, and you retain the feature of a CHF barrel.

The same time I got my DDV11 a friend got a BCM Reece Precision. He paid slightly more than I did. Both are INCREDIBLE weapons, and honestly on out first trip out he outshot me. I would have zero reservations about grabbing either weapon.

This. The others are good choices too.

Daniel Defense would be my choice. I have a V11 that I find myself taking to the range more than my other rifles. It's a very well done carbine.

M4V11 is a well crafted rifle, balanced nicely and shoots as you'd expect from a high quality manufacturer. I added an SSA trigger to mine and love the rifle even more.

I would also consider the V11 Pro if you are not opposed to the 18" barrel. You gain some weight, which you will most likely notice during a longer day training, but the rifle length gas system is simply a pleasure. The smoothness of the bolt cycling is a noticeable improvement. I'm not talking about recoil necessarily, as I don't think that is an issue on any M4 style rifle I've shot. The overall feel and timing on the longer gas system feels smooth and makes shooting even more enjoyable.

You can't go wrong with picking up a DD rifle. They and BCM are at the top of my list for "work" guns. They are reasonably priced and offer everything you need and nothing you don't.

my V11LW is the finest AR i've owned in the last 40 years, besides being a best buy.

The most direct alternative I can think of is a BCM RECCE KeyMod.

Hard to go wrong with either one. The DD has a CHF barrel, the standard RECCE doesn't, but I'm 99% sure Grant said he was able to get RECCE's with the BFH barrels.

I have a ddm4 v5 and a bcm 14.5 KMR upper with a BFH lightweight barrel on a rainer arms lower. You can not go wrong either way. The new DDM4 V7 with the DD MLOK rail will be out in a month or so I believe.

I want to buy one of these two rifles in the next year. I want a 16 LW bad mofo. I'm going to slap in a SSA, a 4x ACOG and a Sig TI QD can. I have a 14.5 LW, but my 16 is pretty hefty.

Yeah my V5 is not a LW and it feels like a pig compared to my BCM

Yes Yes it does !

I would be so pissed if I would have gotten one of the old tube V7s.

While I'm sure they make decent rifles, they simply aren't in the same league as any of the Daniel Defense offerings.

Maybe sit back and read a bit, before you keep posting...

"Run Hard" may mean a bit of a different thing to you than many of the people here.

Back in the Sandy Hook frenzy, I was this close to getting a DD M4V7 with the MFR tube. I'm sure it would have served me well, but I'm glad I ended up piecing together a build using a Noveske NSR.

I did have a DD 11.5" for a while. It worked great. I would not hesitate to get a DD with an appropriate length rail/barrel combo, assuming it's not a gov profile barrel. DD is a solid company.

I wouldnt be so sure.

While everyone is entitled to their own option, I doubt you'll find much sympathy for yours on this site.

Go DD! Have the V7 and it is by far the nicest AR I have ever shot. Had a BCM Upper on a spikes lower I put together that ran like a beast. Sold the BCM as the fit and finish of a non matched upper lower was not to my liking.

While Mac is a good source of firearms news, this video is a few years old. Just when the windham company started up. The history of reliability isn't there. I've seen several of their rifles and while most are acceptable, they still arent vetted and are far from awesome. Castle nut not staked, commercial extension, 1:9 twist, etc. ... better than BM: sure. That's not very hard to do and for the money off a WW, there are better options.
