Just recently moved the family from Anchorage to GTX to escape the upcoming economic shitstorm that is about to occur in AK. I shot with a training group in anchorage for the last couple years at a range a mile from my house so I was kind of spoiled. The guys were mostly LE, .mil, private security and a couple of Timmies such as myself and we shot about once a month. Overall we were a pretty squared away group and shot for free at the instructor side of the range.
I've been to most of the ranges in Williamson county, reds, shady oaks and botw, the latter being the only place worth a shit. The indoor facilities seem awfully fudd and don't allow drawing from the holster which is pretty much a waste of time and money as far as I'm concerned.
I would like to get together with some like minded dewds in the area to run drills and do some more than what's allowed at the public ranges. I live in the county and hear gun fire all the time so I know there are folks with some private land where shooting is kosher. I'm in the construction industry and can help with land development, building or whatever is needed. Any leads on this type of arrangement would be appreciated.
I'm also looking at getting into 3gun at botw for what it's worth.
Thanks

Come for the jobs, stay for the BBQ.

I am not near Georgetown, but good luck finding some shooting buddies.

Welcome to Central Texas.

Not exactly what you were asking, but Texas Tactical ( http://www.texastactical.net/index.asp ) conducts matches monthly at Austin Rifle Club ( https://austinrifleclub.org/ ) and other ranges around Central Texas.

ARC, near Manor, is not a public range, but is a members and their guests only club; however, scheduled matches held there are open to the public.

ARC and BOTW are your best bets in the area.

Are you in a house yet?

you need a plot that is greater than 10 acres to have a private range.
I've seen people shoot on smaller personal ranges with no issues (as long as the neighbors don't mind).

We're looking at homes in Georgetown village and woodlake areas, obviously not 10 acre lots. After we get into a house I'll be looking for some land within 2 hrs as an investment property that I can also shoot on. This is a year or 2 down the road.
I'm also looking for work in the area as well.
