I'm new to the 9mm AR game. I'm having Fun!

I bought a Angstadt Arms upper and lower set and built the lower. The upper still needs to be spun together. I need to decide on a rail for the 5" 9mm TROS 3 lug bbl. I think I will be a pistol rail for now until I get a suppressor for it.

This is the fourth trip to the range with the AA and the first with the Colt. The Glock mags hold one more round and are much easier to load. I heard the Colts were tough to load the last few rounds. All of the rounds went in difficulty for me. They need to be put in just right or the next round will not go in. There wasn't any wiggle room like the Glock mags. I'm sure I'll get used to it. It was just a PITA. Both functioned fine. The 17 round G17 PMag would not load on a closed bolt with 17/16 rounds and did not hold the bolt open on the last round. Neither is a big deal.

The Colt was a smile maker on FA. It was very controllable. The video is two short 3-4 round bursts but sounded like one round to me on play back. The brass hitting the deck was where I could tell it was FA.

Another awesome post, and that giggly switch has got to be just amazing with the 9mm.

ETA: By the way, the ROF on that first video is off the charts! Just like you mentioned, it sounds like a single shot followed up with the peaceful "tinking" of raining brass.

Thanks. It is fun. I'm really looking forward to the suppressor comming in! Then the wait.

You got me jealous over here.

I am still saving up to get a decent lower SBR'd. But considering the tax stamp and cost of both, a can sounds more and more ideal every day.

No matter what, when you can put these through their paces, I see your range rules there are a little... Tight shipped. You should post another video of a mag dump, if you ever plan on doing one; I know that some won't and some will due to wear and such, No matter what, it's a great looking setup all around.

Thanks again for your awesome show and tells.

When the suppressor comes in I will not be so concerned about the rapid fire rules.

Did you go with the Hahn top or bottom block?

The bottom block. It's simple and rugged. They supply the Allen Key. It took seconds to install you put it in like a magazine then lock it in place with the Allen Key. I'd ordered it so I could use it in a few SBR's and this MG. it's slick and fun.

I've had a few questions an wanted to share the answers.

My Colt 16" 9mm upper has a New Frontier Armory modular 9mm BGC.

http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/New_Frontier_Armory_AR_9_Modular_9mm_Bolt_Carrier_p/nfa-ar9-modular-bcg.htm

It has the Glock cut and runs well on Colt and Glock magazines. LRBHO works on both the AA Glock mag lower and Colt lower with Hanh bottom mag well adapter. It was the only 9mm Glock cut BCG I could find in stock. I would have bought a second but it was out of stock.

The 16" gun runs very well with the
ST-9X 9mm heavy buffer and a Wolf extra power carbine spring.
http://www.spikestactical.com/st9x-9mm-heavy-buffer-p-1187.html

The 5" TROS bbl and upper has a JP 9mm BCG purchased at DSG Arms. This has the Glock mag cut too and runs well on the Glock and Colt mags.
https://dsgarms.com/jpbc-9mma This upper would not run with the STX9 buffer and heavy buffer spring. I put a standard buffer and spring in and it ran but I was concerned about breaking the bolt catch. This Colt 9mm Receiver Extension Spacer is only $5 from G&R is in my shopping cart so I can play with different springs and buffer weights. http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=SP400211 The 5" bbl is running well on a Voltor A5 standard weight buffer and the standard riffle buffer spring in a standard carbine receiver extension. The 16" bbl would not run on a Voltor intermediate RE with the satandard A5 buffer and rifle spring. It did work when I added a stack of 7 quarters. I ordered a standard RE and put the STX9 buffer and heavy WOlf Carbine sprin in and it's running great and it's a little shorter.

I just heard about these PSA marked Metalform 32 round Colt magazines. For $19.99! Damn that is a good price. I bought one Metalform from Brownells with the mag block it was $32.15 http://www.brownells.com/magazines/rifle-magazines/magazines/ar-15-m16-colt-style-9mm-magazines-prod38850.aspx I have Colt 32's that were $45 each. For the price the PSA deal is a no brainer. They are the same magazines, PSA's are stamped PSA on the floorplate, Metalform's have no markings, Colt marks theirs on the floorplate and mag body. http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-9mm-smg-magazine.html
BUy them cheap and stack them deep.

Buy the LULA Colg SMG Mag Loader! Seriously buy one. I'm glad I did. I have never used a magazine loader. This thing is a thumb saver.

http://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/speedloaders-accessories/magazine-speedloaders/colt-smg-mag-loader-prod64971.aspx

I bought a pair of 20 round Metalform magazines. They're handier shooting from the bench and make for an overall smaller package if you want to store the gun with a loaded mag. It's also better on the range 20 rounds is plenty at a the range as they're quicker to load.

I just put together a CMMG MK9 lower to use with the 5" upper. I also traded rails with a buddy. The BCM KMR was not large enough for the suppressor I have on order. The Samson rail has plenty of room. I used an ALG ACT trigger. I took out the 4# trigger spring for two reasons. Four pounds's sounded too light for me and then I read it's an issue with hard primers. I want the gun to go bang every time I squeeze the trigger. It's cool they include the second spring.

I used Battle Arms Enhanced take down pin set. It worked slick. I can not find the 1/4" clevis pin I bought after taking my AR armorers course years ago. I will be picking a few up today to have on hand. That said the magnet and extra groove in the Battle Arms kit worked slick.

I bought an ETS G18 magazine. It comes with a flush base plate and holds 31 rounds. I had a Glock + floorplate and put it on.

Hopefully it operates smoothly for you.

The durability tests of the ETS polymer is CRAZY. I saw someone dropping fully loaded AR mags out of a second story window and not even a dent occurred to them.

Hopefully the ETS glock mags will hold up and feed at that high rate that you're getting out of those.

I think they will!

As always, thanks for sharing, hopefully we see a picture with a can sticking out of that handguard soon! ;)

ETA: On that topic, you would be amazed (well, maybe not) that I sat for at least 5 minutes staring at the handguard trying to figure out why the barrel didn't stick out. Then I remembered our initial conversations around this and that had the lightbulb power up for me.

I could only get 32 into this mag. I tried hard. Any harder my thumb would have been bleeding.

cool
I should be getting in an Angstadt for review, maybe a QC10 and the Wilson Combat
I want Glock mags, I tested out the integrally suppressed Spikes recently and while it was stupid fun I did not like the Colt mags.

I get to check out silencers from the SilencerShop and want a 9mm AR as a host platform and well, I just want one!

Probably end up buying the WC pistol as I just really like their stuff and then getting it SBRed and buying the suppressor I like the best for it.
