14.5 Noveske barrel needs a rail?

I have a Noveske 14.5 afghan with Geiselle rail. Earlier generation heavy duty rail. I like it but it feels like an anchor compared to ELW BCM.

IT WILL never feel like the BCM, but I want to shave some weight. I may go with KMR like my BCM, But I'm open to other suggestions.

Any suggestions appreciated. I'm really not interested in cost concerns, mainly a quality decision. What rail would you exchange?

Is the NEWEST KMR worth the extra coin? Need a 13 inch rail.

You could stick with Noveske and put a 13" NSR on it. I've got an 11" and 15" and I'm very happy with both. The only complaints I hear are about installing the barrel nut, but I've never had an issue.

If you want the NSR look in mlok, SMOS 13.6" rail mates well with a 14.5.

Swap to a Geissele mk4 or mk8 M-Lok so you don't even have to change the barrel nut. They're lighter, yet still very durable (although nowhere near as light as a KMR).

I vote mk8 and avoid swapping the barrel nut as mentioned above.

If you go KMR, it comes with the barrel nut and wrench. If you go Noveske, it comes with the barrel nut but not the wrench. Personally, I have enough KeyMod and I'm liking the MK8 MLok - so that will be my next.

I have a Geiselle Mk4 15" on my cheap blaster. I really like it and would recommend it over the KMR for a precision build. It comes with the barrel nut, wrench, and gas block.

It's got pic rails where you want them for your Atlas and much more solid than the KMR.

If you aren't looking for KMR weight, I would definitely look at the Geissele MK8. I was interested in checking out the Geissele rail and MLok, so I put a MK8 on a 13.7 Noveske-barreled upper. Everything about the Geissele rail is pretty impressive, and I have a few KMR's that aren't going anywhere. I still thoroughly enjoy my URX 3.1, though. You are already aware of the difference between the KMR and Geissele rails, so there isn't much else to say.

I have a Urx3 and love it, not the lightest though.

My next build will have a kmr or urx4.
