What have you found to be the best magazines for yours?
Mine range from mediocre to atrocious.

What reasonably priced, decent ammo have you stocked up on.
I have used 50s era steel cased to modern and have not found the sweet spot.

On the mags, std. GI issue retrofitted with Wolff mag springs. My 42' Inland was a choke-o-matic, until I replaced every spring in the gun and mags with Wolff springs I got from Brownell's (do yourself a favor and get the bolt disassembly/reassembly tool for replacing the extractor spring, you'll thank me if you do). After that, mine would reliably eat anything I fed it, including steel case and reloads.

I've been using Korean military mags and PRVI Partisan ammo with success. 1943 Inland G.I. Carbine.

I just picked up 1,000 rounds of Armscor (http://www.ammosupplywarehouse.com/category/30C0/30-CARBINE-RIFLE-AMMUNITION.html), I know nothing of it except it was the least expensive I could find at the time I ordered it. The Armscor is made in the USA and "I Think" the Armscor Precision is made in PI.
I have a new made Inland and it came with what appears to be a substandard used 15 round magazine. I have bought four ProMag 15 rounder's and three Taiwanese 30 rounders, it will be a couple of weeks till we are all together in one place to try what I have.

Korean 15 round magazines are reliable.

Armscor ammunition is good to go in my Quality Hardware carbine, but not the AOM130. You'll have to find what works best in your carbine.

Aguila 110g FMJ is not as accurate as Armscor ammunition, but will feed in just about any M1 Carbine that won't feed most other cartridges. If your carbine's headspace is at the short end, you may want to avoid Aguila until the carbine is worn in. That being said, I have fired thousands of rounds of Aguila without issue.

Welcome to the M1 Carbine club. The M1 Carbine is a great weapon out to 100 meters and suitable for social encounters at closer distances when in the hands of someone who trains with it regularly.

Same with me.

100% reliable and accurate in my '43 NPM.

I sprayed the mags with Rustoleum textured gray to knock down the shine though.

Mine is a GM Inland
146xxx

So I am thinking 1942 or so.

I got it about 25 years ago, so it's not like I could just look up a bunch of information then.

Korean made 30-round magazines

I loaded my 15 round magazine that came with my new Inland. It appeared to be a damaged, used surplus magazine, but loading it fixed most of my complaints and it loaded without a hitch. The four ProMag 15 round magazines also loaded easily. I have three Taiwanese 30 round magazines and they were not a problem to load. I have three ProMag 30 round magazines and only one seemed to load okay the other two would freeze up and had to be partially unloaded and try, try again. One could only take 29 rounds, I expect trouble when I try to shoot with them. I do have four more new Korean made 30 round magazines inbound, I have high hopes for them. It will be awhile before I can shoot with them.

Absolutely recommend picking up this tool! Mags were mix of GI that I picked up over the years, Korean and some unkown stuff. Any mags that were so-so were given the Wolfe spa treatment and worked well afterwards. Some were too far gone and got hammer threapy and went on to become hub caps.

I have an IBM carbine and recently got a GM Inland from CMP sale back in March.

Definitely helps to put new springs in them. Replacing the extractor & ejector springs are a real hassle, find tutorials online how to do it and be careful parts don't go flying off and get lost.

I use some modern 15-round metal magazines, don't know what manufacturer but they are black and have a floorplate notched to hold bolt back when empty.

I like my Carbines but they are a C&R novelty. Reloading helps but getting the right bullet is hit-or-miss; I've had good success with Plated bullets they are affordable and work well.

I know it's not about the looks with most of you guys, but some sanding and staining on that wood...wow that would be a stunning little carbine.

The wood in that thing is figured as nicely as my Beretta silver pigeon O/U.

I know it's not about the looks with most of you guys, but
Everyone is different, but for most C&R collectors or (most) M1 Garand / Carbine collectors, the "right" kind of look would be BLO or maybe Tung oil finish; but it's not supposed to be deep glossy or glass-like finish.

some sanding and staining on that wood

I did this once to a k98 Mauser, before I knew any better, and I regret it. But to each their own.... Kind of like AR's with too many accessories or not enough accessories.

Some of the Dupage stock sets have very nice tiger-stripe patterns, which take a stain / oil finish well.

Yeah, I get it...like original collector cars. I was more just commenting on the stunning piece of wood used.

ETA...

And I'm with ya on the glossy finish, I wouldn't want that on that rifle either.

My four Korean 30 round magazines showed up, they hold the bolt open when empty and load without a hitch
