Used to own a TA11 Acog and really miss them. Looking to build a clone rifle of some sort so I'm eyeing a TA31RCO of some sort.
I'm trying to decide if I should go with a 14.5" SOPMOD Block II using a Colt SOCOM barrel or if I should get a M16 like FN's Military Collector's version.
Is this pretty much a toss up? Or is one more enjoyable to shoot at the range than the other?

I have a soft spot in my heart for an A4. I like my carbines to be carbines. The TA31 seems to hinder that more than help, but I never look at my A4 with TA31 and say "You're not very practical..."

It'd be like complaining your 57 Chevy is a bad choice as a daily driver. That's not its job ;)

Both of my rifles with ACOGs are sopmod block 2 variants. Not sure I would want an ACOG on anything else

I have a TA31 on my Colt 6920 but if I was going to drop the coin on another ACOG it would be for a 20" gun. Maybe the TA31RCO-A4 model. I have a 20" with LW barrel and PRI carbon FF tube just screaming for one! Right now it has an Aimpoint Pro but it could be sooo much better!

Ive used ACOGs on 20 inch rifles in the Army and on 16 inch rifles for LE. I never noticed a difference between them other than the difference of the rifles themselves.

This is my favorite package for use in the Nevada Desert.

Just get one where the BDC actually lines up with your rifle. If you are going 20" with M855, get the RCO-A4. If you are going 14.5" with M855, get the TA01, TA02, TA31H, TA02-D, etc.

They go so well on either rifle, you'll just have to get both. It's the only way.

Or as an alternative you can match the load you choose to the BDC quite effectively. Of course that does require a chronograph, a range and possible reloading. :-)
