View Full Version : Hammer pin seated but not flush?

Just installed an MBT trigger into my LMT lower and noticed the hammer pin sticks out just slightly on the left side of the lower and is just below flush on the right side.

I pushed the pin in by hand and felt the click as the notch engaged the J hook.

I can't say for certain I've ever seen this before but I'm assuming it's within the tolerance?

Is the center groove in the pin centered? Is the FCG pocket centered in the lower forging? Is the J-spring centered in the hammer? In the end it would depend on what "slightly" means. It's sounds like tolerance stacking to me. Probably nothing to worry about unless "slightly" is a big number.

I eyeballed, measured, and swapped the hammer and trigger pins with each other. They are identical as are the results

Trigger pin is locked in by spring and flush, hammer pin is locked in by spring and "unflush". This is a factory LMT complete lower and the pins in the factory FCG were and they are flush again in the stripped lower project they went in to.

I'm not a cosmetic guy at so ifs goofy looking but will have no short or long term issues, I'm fine with it.

Here's the best of the pics I could get.

Looks fine. If operating correctly I'd shoot it.

Yeah I figured it's probably fine I was just worried the pin being recessed might egg out the hole over time.

Looking at your pic's, I would say, go shoot it and not worry.

:p

Don't know why I didn't think to do this earlier.

Used my reloading calipers to measure walls of lower.

Left side is .090" thick, right side is .105" thick.

Problem solved.

Like I said... Tolerance stacking. Don't worry about it.
