I used one overseas and it's been pretty useful. Anyone have experience with the Ferro Concepts Dangler or HSP Multipurpose pouch? Are there any other options out there for similar items?

I have only seen the Dangler on the SKD and Ferro websites and it appears to be too big for my needs. I am not a fan of the HSP pouch, due to the zipper completely opening the pouch. SORD USA has a couple of options, http://www.sordusa.com/Velcro-Sandwich/, as does TYR Tactical, http://www.tyrtactical.com/products/list/general-purpose-pca/pouch-accessories/.

I like the SORD On The Man Half and the TYR MV Small, but both are a little too small for my needs, so I am looking to have a custom pouch made by someone. I think 5"x7"x2.5" is the perfect size for me with the wedge-like hanger from both brands, Elastic loops on the front like on the TYR pouch, a velcro patch panel like on the HSP, and elastic lops on the inside like on the Dangler.

I have also run a tactical fanny pack and it is by far the best solution for E&E, navigation and medical kit. Eagle made the ones for our FSBE II kits when I was on Active duty and before that, I ran a custom one from Matt Johnson, before he got out and went to work for Eagle. In saying that, I have almost completely transitioned to a plate carrier and have been looking for a solution to attach to the bottom to replace my fanny pack, but none of the ones out there completely meet my needs, hence having a custom one made.

I have both the Ferro and HSP pouches, but unfortunately I have not experimented with them enough to form a thorough opinion.
That being said, initial impressions line up with some of what's already been said here;
I'm not a big fan of the HSP clamshell feature- I've heard some guys like that if using as a med pouch, but for my intended use a a GP pouch... not to sure on that yet.
The Ferro would be good if you need something a little "taller" than the Haley, as well as the front zipper, i.e, no clamshell, however, mocking it up with my chest rig, the extra height may be a little issue if sitting in a vehicle, if you had it stuffed full without room to "crush"- I guess body type, where you wear your gear, and vehicle type would come into play, but I like the "short-wide" style like the HSP better. It's not a *huge* difference, but it is there.
The Haley has loop velcro both interior sides of the pouch internally, the Ferro has a line of elastic loops on the back side and loop velcro on the front interior, so whichever you prefer for internal organization....

Now, if you hate the clamshell feature of the HSP pouch, there's a small company call Spiritus Systems that just released a dangler, that imo, is the best of both worlds:
The S.A.C.K.
http://www.spiritussystems.com/new-products-1/sub-abdominal-carrying-kit

I received one from their last run, and it seems nice- it's like a Haley pouch (roughly same dimensions) WITHOUT the clamshell feature, a small front pocket made of the Crye-type 4-way stretch material, and dual shock cord "yank and use" loops for a TQ, and interior loop Velcro on both sides like the HSP pouch. The dangler attachment velcro panel is also similar in size to the Haley, if that matters.

I guess YMMV, but I like the danglers with a chest rig, and am still considering a standard fanny for use with a PC, just because the PC rides a little different on me than the chest rig. Go figure....

The Sord USA pouches are pretty basic which is what I wanted for use as a med pouch.
The dimensions
On the man full
9 ½ x 4 x 2 ½

On the man half
6 x 4 x 2
This isn't far off from what you say was the "perfect size"

Marz Tactical is nice. Well made here in the USA. I've met the owner, and he was a solid straight-forward guy.

Just found this one: UR Tactical OPS Modular Fanny Pouch:

I don't know much about the company but their works looks good. I like the collapsible dump pouch and will probably get one of those.

I brought up the subject when I answered a thread on another forum about how I carry when riding a bike (mountain bike on easy trails). It's not a bad rig. I have a G19 in the pic, but I normally carry a G26 when I wear it.

I use this: http://www.amazon.com/Ka-Bar-TDI-Enforcement-Fanny-Pack/dp/B001H53QB2

i have been running a ferro dangler and another improvised pouch as a tactical fanny pack, or tactical nard knocker.

i think they're great, it's the perfect solution to a general purpose pouch. it keeps the tactical belly slimmer. everything stays easy to access.

i keep several things in the crotch pouch, emergency ear protection (set of foamies), flex cuff cutter (safariland), latex gloves, and cellphone(s). these are the things that i always wished i had on me, that i could never find a clever place to stash with armor donned.

all items fit in the pouch, they don't ding the crotch because they're fairly light. also with the right pouch and carrier, it should mount nice and high so as to not tag the testes.

additional notes on designs

i have read complaints that the ferro dangler isn't easy to access because the zipper and relative flatness of the pouch. this is true. if it is mounted high up in a carrier with a conventional load out configuration that places rifle mags on the kangroo flap, it will be harder to access. is this a big deal to me? no. do i have to maneuver to access the cellphone? yes. can i access it when sitting down and driving? should i even be driving and getting my phone out of my carrier gp?

my improvised pouch is a velcro top flap. it's way easier to access in any position. it also hangs lower and occasionally tags me in the pelvic, not painful, just a reminder that the pouch is there.

my suggestion to those who want to buy, a deeper pouch will place the zipper further out and easier to access.

if one is looking for an actual fanny pack there are a couple truly expensive options.

Looks like a bunch of knockoff products. Their Med pouch is an exact copy of the HSGi bleedsr pouch

Yeah after some more digging, I saw that some of the pouches were knockoffs and that they were out of China. Their marketing is good though, it hides it pretty well and tries steer clear of the airsoft marketing area. I still like that dump pouch though, and all it needs to do is hold tennis balls, long lead or muzzle. I've not seen one like that from another manufacturer.

don't get this pouch. it has the loop and hook sides reversed from any normal plate carrier set up. regular set up would be loop forward and hook on the back to be sandwiched in a front flap (that is hook backed) or side flap (which would also be hook backed). for whatever reason, I guess tyr stuff is backwards.

don't get this, it's tiny. it's literally the size of an iphone 6+. can fit nothing else with an iphone 6+ in it.
