My only SIG is a very nice civy P225 with Trijicon HD's. I like the way it carries and I like the TDA w/hammer for AWIB. Since the P228/229 are it's double stack counterparts I would like to know how they carry for those of you who use them. I like the rail on the 229 but I'm not sure I'd put a light on it anyway, that may be a different subject.
I am also comfortable with the Beretta 92 series so maybe a 92 compact is another option. I do have a few mags for the 92 so that's attractive but I have holsters for the P225 which might fit the 228?
Thanks

I have both a P225 and a P228.

Both of mine will fit in my DeSantis Speed Scabbard just fine.

The P228 is quite a bit thicker than the P225 and I think it is harder to hide. It is also thicker in the grip than my G19 and holds less rounds so I mostly carry the G19.

However, yes, the P225 in the Speed Scabbard hides and carries really well. These days, the P225 seems large for a pistol that only carries 8 rounds but they are really nice shooters.

If you can hit well with the P225...there are worse guns to carry.

I have had both. I don't agree that the P228 is thicker....at least not by the slide. It is the same as the P228. For IWB, there is not a real difference. Now, it is thicker in grip. From my experience, the thickness isn't as important as length in ccw. Just my .02 cent.

+1

The dimensional differences are extremely slight:

I have a 229, and when we got a 225 in at the store, I had to go over and compare the two side by side. As has been mentioned already, it's a big gun for 8 rounds. A Glock 43 with a Taran basepad holds the same number of rounds. Now the 225 will probably be easier to shoot well, but for me, the juice just wan't worth the squeeze. While I probably won't be owning a 225, I will say that the trigger (especially single action) was very nice, better than both my 226 and 229 with SRT triggers. It was also easier for me (with average to smallish sized hands) to get good leverage on the trigger of the 225 due to the slightly smaller grip circumference compared to the double stack 229.

My M11-A1 (228/229) and Sig 239 snap into the M11 holster made in Kydex from DSG Arms. The M11/228 is top heavier in the holster. I have a DeSantis #2 Speed Scabbard for the Sig 239 and the M11/228 fits it also. If you have on a slightly worn or cheaper belt with the M11/228, the grip will tend to flop in and out more from the extra rounds in the grip.

Owned the P6/P225 and a P228.

IMO the P228 is the Only Sig worth owning. A west German with rolled steel slide specifically. The M11-A1 is a P229, not a P228. The P225 is too big with too little capacity.

I carried an A Series P-220 for years, then Bobtailed 1911's in .45acp.. After my wife finally got interested in shooting with me cost was prohibitive for .45 so we went to all 9 mm handguns; I did go to a P-229 and tried to like it for about 6 months however now I carry a CZ P-01 and love the feel and the carry of this gun.

I love the 225 it just fits in my hand perfectly, I owned both a 228 and 229 and they shot well very accurate but it just didn't feel as good in my hands. I haven't held one of the new releases yet but I'm hoping its the same fit. i was never worried about the hi-cap debate, so the 8 round mags work for me.

I recently held a new model P-225 and compared it to my P-229.. They are nearly
the same IMHO; 'Sorry, not the same feel as the original P-225/P6 guns at all..

With the right holster, belt and clothing I don't think the wider grip of the 228 is that much harder to conceal. For me the 228 just feels better in the hand than the thinner grip 225 so the 228 is more shooter friendly for me and I'll take that over a thinner grip.
