I just got an Aimpoint M4S, and it seems very high quality. I like this optic a lot. One thing though, the adjustments seem to have a deal of play between them, unlike my ML2, where each click is positive and leads right into the next. Is this normal?
I'm a happy camper, now both rifles sport aimpoint optics!:D
ETA:
As I was playing around, I noticed the dot disappears if you hold the adjustment dial in between a click. The dot will vanish if you hold the dial right in between clicks. It doesn't disappear with the play in between the clicks, just when you put pressure on the dial to go over to the next setting, and HOLD it there.
My M4 is the same way I have had no problems with the play affecting its function switch adjusts it just fine.

My understanding is that Aimpoint builds the play into the knobs intentionally, as they are less likely to accidently change settings with this approach.

This is normal. It was designed into the CompM4 as one weakness on the CompM2/M3 is the switch knob breaking if hit on a hard surface. The following is from an Aimpoint engineer. "On the CompM4 the Switchknob is mechanically "separated" from the shaft of the switch. The switchknob is mechanically secured into the sight´s body, this means that external force on the knob will not be distributed to the switch (that could break), but to the sight´s body. This is the reason why you can feel the play on the M4 solution." The dot disappearing between seating is also normal.

Thanks a bunch, BTW I got it sighted in today. Very nice optic, glad I got rid of my Eotech. The 2 MOA dot is an improvement.
