I kinda knew that buying optics/sights/etc. off of Amazon or EBay was somewhat of a crap shoot with regard to authenticity. Companies such as EOtech and Zeiss even have counterfeit awareness pages on their websites.

Anyone know of some of the larger vendors such as Optics Planet also have issues with counterfeits?

"The market for fake goods is on the rise, with international trade in counterfeited or pirated products valued almost a half a trillion dollars.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development released a report today that said international trade of "fakes" represented 2.5 percent of overall world trade, or $461 billion, in 2013. That's equivalent to the gross domestic product of Ireland and the Czech Republic combined"

I wouldn't think so, since they would only buy direct or from major distributors.

Most respected/known retailers are GTG.

Some fakes are pretty easy to spot, others not so much. I would think that a place like Optics Plant likely has someone who's entire job revolves around checking distributors and making sure a fake doesn't make it in to their mix.
I once bought a "Cold Steel" AK47 knife that was a phony, it actually served me as well as the "Real Thing" for about five years.

I highly doubt it.

The struggle is real... and scary.

I seem to remember a few years ago, a bunch of bogus CAT tourniquets floating around in various military units, and the DoD had to put out information regarding counterfeit items.

I highly doubt it.
