This build is the culmination of an idea I've had in my head for about 6 months now. I re-read Molon's thread about how accurate the Colt Socom barrels are and that inspired me to want a rifle built around one. Further, since it was going to be a Colt barrel and I've never owned a Colt rifle, I decided I'd like to make it all Colt. In addition, I've worked on several Colt rifles lately for some local Sheriff Deputies and was impressed with the consistent quality I saw in all of them. Parts just fit together like they were supposed to, no issues. With the Colt 6920 OEM guns available, I decided now was the time to take the plunge. I bought a Colt 6920 OEM 1, pulled out the 16" barrel and sold it, then bought a 14.5" Socom barrel. I shaved the FSB and assembled the upper receiver assembly at the excellent Semper Paratus Armorer's course (my second one). This rifle's role is 3gun, training, and a go-to if things go south. I zeroed it Saturday evening and shot it in a 3gun match yesterday. It is everything I hoped it would be!

New Build:
Colt OEM-1, barrel swap to M4A1 Socom 14.5"
AAC 51T Brake pinned/welded
Geissele MK8 Mlok handguard
Geissele SD-E trigger
Magpul CTR stock
Bravo Co grip
Bravo Co Gunfighter Mod 4 charging handle
AAC M4-2000 silencer
Trijicon Accupower 1-4, Red Segmented BDC
Larue SPR-E mount

Fantastic balance and handling. Shoots 64gr Gold Dot into about 1" @ 100.

I was just thinking I need to pick up a 6920 and geissele rail to go with it. Seeing it together now makes we want to even more.

I shot this rifle today and it was balanced very very well. This is a great set up and I want one now, also first post in a long time here hahahaha.

Great build! We must think alike, as I recently finished one very similar.
