Can someone recommend me to a gunsmith? i need the front strap on my stainless 1911 checkered and have it coated black (IonBond, cerakote, etc.) the polished stainless is getting a bit old.

the gun runs good so i don't need other work done, but i would like to have it back in short order. who can i send it too?

thanks,

Kent

I've had work done by, and would recommend Richard Fletcher (http://www.fletchercustompistols.com/), Dave Sams (http://www.samscustomgunworksusa.com/) or Evolution Gun Works (http://www.egw-guns.com/).

good luck with your search!

EGW has a great rep on one of the 1911 forums I'm on. If I'm not mistaken, they also have some coating capabilities in house.

I would check with the SA Custom Shop.

Nighthawk Custom is now doing the sort of work you want on customer-supplied guns as well.

Best, Jon

I went thru www.harrisoncustoms.com and highly recommend John, but for what you are looking for go to Ionbond's smith directly:
