So I've been doing a lot more hunting with my AR and am looking for a scabbard to sling my rifle over my back when I move positions. I will also be riding a bike back to some of my spots.

My rifle has an 18" barrel with a quad rail and a bipod and a compact Nightforce scope on a LaRue mount. I also have an 8" suppressor that can be removed when in the scabbard. Molle straps would be nice to add pouches.

I've been looking, but really haven't found any options that have great reviews to fit my needs. Is there anyone here who has a good experience with one or can recommend a good product to me?

A quad rail without covers will rip up any scabbard. Why not try a sling like everyone else?

I have a BFG sling for it, I was just thinking it would be nice to have something other than a pack on with a sling on top while riding a bike.

Like a said a quad rail will cut up most bags. Maybe try something like this and don't zip it up all the way? http://www.opticsplanet.com/5-11-tactical-covrt-m4-soft-gun-case-asphalt-56970.html

I like that! It's pricy, but looks like what I need. How fast can you get the rifle out? Do you have to take the pack off to get it out?

I never tried to draw from the scabbard I always took the pack off first. What's cool about it is that if you either don't need the scabbard or say you have an sbr, the bottom of it folds up out of the way

If you want rapid access, check out the Kifaru Gun Bearer (https://store.kifaru.net/gun-bearers-p30.aspx)

Rapid access to it for what? Are you gonna be doing drive-bys on the bike of the deer (or whatever animal) you're hunting? :sarcastic: I haven't used them, but the Eberlestock packs look like a good option for what you want.

Actually yes, well, kind of. I'm hunting logging roads and clear cuts a lot of the time. Often enough, time is of the essence.

I'm really liking the look of the eberlestock packs.

I too, have an Eberlestock lowdrag.

Discussed briefly here 2 years ago.

Euro - I was reading that thread and saw where you posted about really liking iron sights. Have you ever tried the CSAT aperture?

I have not. It looks interesting and comes from a vetted guy, so I'd probably give it a shot for $35 but I've never had any issues using traditional irons out pretty far. Here is another thread with that same rifle shooting out to 400 yards. Sorry all the pics are gone, but these threads are from years ago ;) I still have the pics if you're curious but I was shooting about 3 MOA at 400 yards with PMC X-TAC M855 and a carry handle rear sight.

I like iron sights way more than optics, and I can say that with 100% seriousness. They're robust, don't require you to turn them on/off, and a carry handle rear sight will allow you to accurately engage targets much further than even the best red dot.
