So I'm looking at switching from a back pack to a smaller messenger style bag for everyday use. I love my Oakley pack but I just don't carry enough to justify the size of it and am getting tired of how big it is. I used to use a smaller maxpedition bag but hated the material and to me it screamed shoot me first. Ive been looking at the vertex satchel but was wondering if there were any other options and maybe a little more budget friendly

Thanks guys and gals!

I use the satchel now and really like it. I have gone from a 5.11 covert (too casual) to a Vertx EDC Courier (too big) and now to the satchel. I like the satchel better than the Max fatboy. I have the Courier on the EE now. It's great if you need to carry a laptop but the satchel is not as large if you only carry an iPad. The Vertx holster and mag/light holders are much better than some other solutions.

I've been carrying a The North Face Microbyte (https://www.thenorthface.com/shop/equipment-backpacks-mens-backpacks/microbyte?variationId=EMQ) as my daily bag. Doesn't look tactical at all, and just large enough to carry what I want.

I just started using a Filson briefcase as my everyday carry bag. Timeless style and doesn't get a second look. Enough room for pistol, ipad, surface, and other items as well.

GORUCK Bullet 10, if you can find one.

If you don't want the PALS/MOLLE exposed, you can add a TAD OP1 (or similar) and it looks like a regular backpack.

I've got a jack wolfskin bag about that size I might try switching to. I've had it for years sitting in my closet

The Combat Flip Flops Claymore is very minimalist interpretation of a shoulder bag. It will keep you from carrying too much but has some neat interior details. It is also a little bit tactical and can be found under $60 if you look.
