Anybody have any issue with the yhm-9384? Also what about a .625 clamp on unit?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Nobody here with much experience uses clamp on gas blocks. They're generally not robust enough, screws stretch, come loose.

I would say the PRI clamp on, folding FSB is the only one of the species that has seen significant real-world use.

Is the clamp portion the weak link or the screws?

Thanks,

Screws. They may come loose or break.

I have one of those on my 300blk plinker, it works fine for tromping around in the back yard and popping shots beer cans and critters. I wouldn't use one on a high volume shooter though.

Like the lug nuts on your car?

My car's rims don't cycle between ambient temp and 4-600*F every time I drive it. YMMV, but I hope it doesn't, lol!

I've honestly have had good luck with my ARMS 41 folding FSB.

Wait until you drop it and get a good hit on the side of the sight in the up position, you'll go from gas block to shut-off valve.

There's also the matter of the taper on the wheel side of lug nuts. Tapers are used in all sorts of places including machine tooling. They act as a lock of sorts to prevent loosening.

I had a Ford Bronco in the 80s. It popped a lug with nut attached on two occasions. So yeah, I guess like the lugnuts on a car.

For the guy who shoots a few times per year at the local range, he's probably never have a problem, but a serious shooter may have a different story to tell.

Actually funny you mention that as I actually have(twice). Maybe I have had good luck.

Out of cutiosity, anybody know how hot brake rotors and there for by conduction the leg nuts do get on a car, city driving? Sure the get cool in between times of heat, but during the have to get up there, and over and over during "rush hour".
